Soft, strong and very very long

We were shown some old French shows during the past week which were, as I’m sure you could guess, quite interesting. Here, for example, is a very young looking Patrice Laffont hosting Des Chiffres et Des Lettres in 1972.

But more interesting than that, the show that begat Des Chiffres… namely Le Mot Le Plus Long. I thought I would write a feature on it, so here you are.

TFP2

By popular demand, here’s the feature on Tokyo Friend Park II I put up last year.

Looking through the new Argos catalogue, I note that there’s a The Cube electronic game out. Anyone seen it in action?

From the subnormal to the ridiculous

Well it’s very quiet interesting things wise, so I thought I’d put up some new old content to keep the place ticking over. Tonight, features on two old shows:

You can, of course, find all of Bother’s Bar feature content on the Specials Board. Enjoy.

Not much

There’s not much happening, is there?

New competition starting soon. May throw up an old feature this evening.

Tentatively back

Look, I’ll tell you what happened.

On Friday, I was sent to market to sell some cows for money or something when a strange old man stopped me in the street, and wondered if I’d sell him a cow for some apparently magic beans that will help see the future. “Magic beans?” I cried, rather skeptically. But you know me, I like a bit of a gamble so I got back to the bar, penniless, but with some beans. So I planted them and then went to bed. Then the next day I did some washing and got drunk down a pub (obviously I didn’t have the money to pay the electricity bill) and when I got back – whoa, standing in a corner of the Bar was one of those Zoltan the Magnificent sort of machines, but it was apparently called “Rob Bighter”.

“Hmm,” I thought, “that’s an anagram of Brig Bother. Quite clever.” Anyway I won some money down the pub so I fed the meter, and suddenly Rob Bighter came to life and he left a message:

Rob Bighter’s eyes are shining bright,
If you’re not careful you’ll bugger up your website.

Well, to be honest I’m not massively impressed with him predicting something that’s already happened.

Anyway, the point is: if you’re about to write a long comment, I’d suggest copying it before you send it in case the server messes up. Flaws will be ironed out over the coming days, fingers crossed.

And what predictions for the future (or predictions of things that have already happened) will Rob Bighter have in store?

Because of the interest surrounding the Secret Fortune format, apparently going to the US as Who’s Bluffing Who according to Buzzerblog, and because Alex Davis suggests it doesn’t sound as good as Take It or Leave It, I thought I would throw up the old feature on Kies de Kluis, Crack the Safe, the original Dutch version of the TIOLI format.

Not much else happening with the World Cup. Big Brother‘s quite good so far, though.

New feature!

I’ve only gone and done a new feature on current darling of the French quiz scene, Tout le Monde Veut Prendre sa Place.

Happy Saturday.

New feature!

Have you tried looking up Adventure Line’s Les Forges du Desert online? There’s really not much information of it about.

So allow me to correct that just a little bit.

XX

The latest episode of Alex Davis’ Double Cross is now up and downloadable on iTunes or from Buzzerblog, and this week’s is ultra exciting because it features two Bother’s Bar punters on it – Kesh and David “KP” Howell.

I haven’t listened to it yet – I’ll do so on my way to work tomorrow, but if KP doesn’t spend all episode declaring it to be a fix with Alex somehow forcing a certain outcome then I will be MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTED.
