Hey Gang, do you remember we pointed out a TV researcher job at the end of February and suggested it sounds an awful lot like Raven?
Well guess what? It’s medieval Mario Party Raven for CBBC.
As doubtless you’ve noticed: that’s a different person playing Raven – this is Aisha Toussant who plays Jules Belmont in BBC Scotland soap River City. It also sounds like James Mackenzie who originally played the role will also be appearing in some capacity.
We’re intrigued to see how it’s been reformatted, 15×30 minute episodes are promised and the press release suggests 16 contestants. That would suggest five cycles of three-day weeks, each one with four people, leaving four people for the final. But that’s speculation on my part.
Obviously I hope it takes a more modern take on proceedings, with fewer games so they can bring the personalities out (*).
(*) I’m being facetious.
In my humble opinion, Raven: The Secret Temple was even better than the regular series. I mean, it had a princess made of bees. MADE OF BEES.
I quite liked that the spin-offs seemed mainly an excuse to do Raven but with different buildings.
I loved Raven back when it’s on, and I can’t wait for the series to return. It’s nice they brought back the original Raven in some capacity, I thought they would completely get rid of him.

ITV2’s Safeword is going to MTV in the USA.
The 4 groups of 4 with three eps a week make sense, though there is a way that you could do it with 5 eps a week too:
Week 1:
Monday Group A 4 players to 3
Tuesday Group B 4 players to 3
Wednesday Group A 3 players to 2
Thursday Group B 3 players to 2
Friday Groups A and B combine, 4 players go down to 3
Week 2:
Same thing with Groups C&D
Week 3:
six finalists play off (so that would be like the original series)
Possible, but switching between groups seems a bit of a hassle. You never know though.

CBBC have also announced a “futuristic game show where contestants control avatars and navigate cyborg starships whilst completing complex challenges to help conquer malevolent overlords.”
Sounds a bit like a futuristic Raven, or like Ludus from a few years ago.
That sounds like the short lived gameshow Mission 2110 to me.
The most interesting part is “players take part from the comfort of their own homes ” that seems to be a recurring trend with cbbc gameshows.
