Happy Halloween Day!

By | October 31, 2017

I’m out trick or treating tonight (well actually I’m playing cards) so I won’t be able to watch the Release the Hounds Celebrity TOWIE Halloween Special live unfortunately but will look forward to catching up on in the next few days. It’s a two-hour long spooktacular (it says here) extravaganza as FOUR members of the TOWIE cast take part in horror filled games and outrunning a pack of dogs for charity, this time hosted by modern-day Noel Edmonds Matt Edmondson. That’s on ITV2 from 9pm. It’s not getting a proper show discussion post because this is a one-off, the series will air in the future.

Meanwhile it’s Schlag den Henssler this Saturday from 7:15pm, a member of the public takes on Stefen Henssler across 15 games for €500,000 LIVE and as ever we’re intending to provide a Youtube commentary with various fun and games. Do join us.

Ah, it’s back to 500k? Did they announce this originally as 250k? Or did I dream this?

Apropos of not much else, anyone know when Armchair Detective is supposed to start?

Err, speaking of horror based stuff for Halloween, VH1 in USA just started its horror competion show, Scared famous. it features 10 reality stars competing in haunted house for a prize up to $100000 for charity.
I like it show far, along with the cast (think celebrity big brother trashy but getting scared shitless) it kind of is like hellevator meets release the hounds stylistically (looking it up some people who worked on this DID work on hellevator ). I can take or leave the mole-esque team challenges, but I kinda don’t like the Vote 1 person into elimination, then that person chooses the next one. it kinda targets alliances to vote their team members into it, to easily target another one they don’t like. is it unfair? sorta….. I do like the “master of scareamonies” (Did they really have to do that….) host, redman.
you can watch it here with the dark arts:

This was pretty decent actually, good tasks (the one in the church, lighting candles that would just get blown out unless they all did it together was my favourite I think) and an unexpected but surely always on the cards Saw tie-in at the end. Fun references to Reggie Yates.

I can’t decide on Matt Edmondson though. I think I really like him, had some great comments and one-liners. BUT. But. I think a show like this requires a host who feels like he carries some authority and here he doesn’t quite convince – I suspect he has Stephen Mulhern’s problem of looking perpetually twelve years old. So I don’t know if this is it but I hope he eventually lands a suitable format. I thought he was pretty good on Fake Reaction, didn’t watch Xtra Factor.
