Proto-Armchair Detectives

An episode of Captain Zep: Space Detective showed up on my Youtube subscription feed yesterday – haven’t watched it yet and won’t be able to until later, but aware enough of its rarity to share with you lot:

Not to be confused with The Adventures of Captain Zeelig on CITV in the 90s which I remember pretty much hating.

A similar show we had in Italy:
Amici Mostri (Monster Friends) was an odd horror/sit-com series with costumed actors and children as extras.
The plot was simply “evil businnessman Inquinator threatens to do evil things, good scientist Ugo De Ughis enlists children to solve puzzles” with plenty of comedy.
After the first few episodes they dropped the game elements, but they added a fan mail segment, just to break the fourth wall.

The main villain Inquinator was played by Mauro Serio, who would later host several children programmes including the Carmen Sandiego gameshow.

this is the intro, the series 1 ending and a promotional segment

and this is the series 2 ending.
