Show’s they’re not as confident to order only 6 Civilian eps. Looks like they are resorting to Celebrities only for future. Will they be designing new games? It is technically a series order however they will be shown in two blocks of 6 I presume. Could one celebrity EP be for Xmas.

I think the ultimate version of the show would be one where Ayoade spends 45 minutes interrogating them in the dome, then they can have 30 seconds to catch tokens, and just ignore the tedious going round the zones playing games nonsense completely.

Could this end up being a Whose Line situation where they store that many up that we see episodes that were filmed two years beforehand?

No I think they may be doing a 2 block per year scheduling. So maybe an announcement in the autumn for another block of 12 for the 2019 schedule. To answer the new games question, they will need 120 games for the new run. If you use the 5 show use limit they will need roughly 25 games. So if they wack in a few S1 classics they can pad it to 35.

Well, they’ve been keeping the set up at a not inconsiderable cost since the first filming so they might as well use it eventually…

I wonder if they’ll run them in the filmed order – could it help to have some of the new ones with some new games in, then back to the first filmed batch, to reduce the feeling of repetition? But if they’re only making 12 more I don’t know how many new games they’ll do and not just double down on what they think are the favourites. Or it’s just that they feel they need some more celeb ones for the rest of the run, and might as well make it cost effective with a few more regular episodes too…

Probably worth pointing out that 12 episodes is just shy of an original series run, I would expect people’s reactions to the next seven episodes having the same games as the 13 just gone will probably concentrate minds a bit.

Now, considering who’s in the design team, are they going to change every game like they did in the 90s?

I’d assume not, but a man can dream.

I would apply but only on the premise that Richard and that stupid hand on a stick are nowhere to be seen.

If they weren’t to change at least the very vast majority of games from series to series, it would seem to be a very considerable downgrade from The Original Series.

I’m thrilled to hear that the show is getting a second series; I don’t think there is much wrong with it that a change in hosting tone (not necessarily even a change in host) wouldn’t resolve.

The fact they’re doing half celebrity episodes does rather suggest they’ll be doubling down on the tone, unfortunately.

Turns out I’ve found up to 5, Brig – I don’t know if they’re using the Argentinian set but it’s worth a watch – no spoilers but the first episodes is something that the American series never did! Enjoy

This seems to have seven people from the same family playing, which is an interesting fillip even if one that doesn’t make much sense really.

Great news The Crystal Maze has been recommissioned – just a shame half the run is for celeb specials as the show is much better with civilians. I’ve nothing against celeb specials – but keep them as that – special. 1 SU2C special, 1 Xmas special and if you must one to start and end the series. 4 celeb eps, 8 civilian would be much more palletable. Would have liked to have seen a kids specials commissioned too.

C4 do need to sort out the scheduling though – Sundays 8pm over Spring/Summer would probably be best.

Sadly due to the celebrity episodes were first broadcast at a 9PM slot I don’t think half the run will not be shown until then. But maybe C4 have learned. We still don’t know which celebrities they are targeting yet. I would love to see Warwick Davies & possibly Schofield but I don’t think he can. We know reality rejected will be chosen but as the other two from the last leg has attempted I love to see Adam Hills.

We could be getting a return date in the comming days as next Friday Richard Ayoade is on the last leg. if you remember that it was on his previous appearance we received the first clip & broadcast date. Could be the same this time round as well.
