Show Discussion: What Would Your Kid Do?

By | February 5, 2018

Tuesdays, 8pm,
ITV1

Jason Manford hosts a new six-part series where parents are challenged to predict what their kids will react in a series of expert-led psychological tests. The parents who know their kids best get a chance to win a prize at the end – selected by their kid of course.

Nobody mention Bet On Your Baby and we’ll all be fine I’m sure. Manford will probably be pretty good at interaction. Let us know what you think in the comments.

I quite enjoyed it, felt a bit like The Secret Life of 4 Year Olds (which it was up against this week) and Big Star’s Little Star. Manford was a good host, and has some very funny scenes with him and the kids.

I quite enjoyed the endgame choice with the girl having to choose between the car and the holiday.

    Nobody mention… so I won’t.

If Wikipedia is to be believed, said unmentionable show had a Korean version with the fantastic title of COME ON BABY and hosted by The Genius series 2‘s Hongchul, so there’s that.

I don’t tend to watch shows that are so strongly aimed at a ‘family prime-time (ITV) audience’ but I took a chance on this and as a one off I enjoyed it, but I do wonder how far they can go in terms of tasks for the kids. I say this because the first two were basically the same. Couple of series tops I imagine. But again, not too bad, I’m sure it’s been well recieved.

The kids grandparents and a couple of pets wouldn’t be bad ratings for Tuesday night standards. Do hope it works though just to open up that slot now Corrie has taken the midweek mediocre entertainment format slot which ITV had somewhat established in recent years.

A shameless mash up of Secret Life of Four Year Olds with elements of Wait till I Get You Home, Childs Play and Big Star’s Little Star.

This was good. Like many people on twitter said, it was big star little star without the celebrities. It felt fresh while also being something old fashioned. It was a pleasant combination. I will watch again.

At the end of yesterday’s show they were looking for applicants so it has been renewed for a second series.
