Happy New TV Season!

By | September 3, 2018

It’s the first Monday in September, that means today there are BRAND NEW episodes of Pointless, Jeremy KyleJudge Rinder, Tenable, Tipping Point (I presume) AND The Chase to watch today. Will any of them have any significant changes (probably not?)

I actually had no idea they recorded more Tenable, so that’s a nice surprise.

    From @hassaan97 on Twitter:

“Yesterday’s brand new episode of #TheChase (after a summer of repeats) got 3.31 million viewers. It got a massive 31% share, its biggest ever share. By comparison, Pointless returned after two months off with 1.80m (16.2%)”

    So there we are.

I think the new Tenable episodes are the last part of that 60 episode block they recorded last year, but I’m not sure. Also look at this Obvious Tabloid Nonsense from The Express. To be fair they are basing it off what Bradley said, but you’d think that someone would fact check something as easily Google-able as that. I can think of at least Deal or No Deal which gave away more than £100,000 in daytime, but there might be another one. https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/1012449/The-Chase-Brendan-Walsh-history-cash-prize-Anne-Hegerty-The-Governess-ITV

I know on Twitter people were claiming it as daytime’s biggest quiz show win, and that’s probably correct as DoND isn’t a quiz show really.

There is also the thing that nobody really cares in the moment, cf Bob Barker or Noel claiming something has never happened before.

Golden Balls is the other daytime show that gave away more…only £150 more mind (the infamous £100k steal episode which was actually £100,150).

The last of that block went out in April/May, this is a new series. ITV are correctly billing it as series 3; it’s a shame Channel 4 don’t follow their example when it comes to The Crystal Maze.

Tipping Point actually restarted with new episodes on Friday August 31, with the episode which was not shown due to Royal Family matters.

I know this is very tangentially related, but in a 20th anniversary celebration video for Millionaire released today the money tree graphics on the special series from earlier this year appear to have been fixed.http://imgur.com/dBpf1iF It’s now in a better looking font that isn’t the same as on any previous version of British WWTBAM, and I hope they use it if there’s another series of Millionaire coming. I still don’t understand why they didn’t just use the same question graphics as most other versions though.

I don’t dare sharing it on twitter, but here are episode of the second go they had at Fort Boyard around 2000. I loved the show back then and it is probably one of the reasons I got into game shows. But I couldn’t find episodes, now somehow has shared it on Twitter and they were uploaded *just* nine months ago. Here’s the first of five uploaded episodes: https://youtu.be/P3Y9YFhPxfg
