Fingers on Buzzers

By | September 10, 2018

This week’s excitement is that there’s a new podcast launching on Friday! Fingers on Buzzers features The Chase‘s Jenny Ryan and comic Lucy Porter discuss all things quiz with interviews promised with quiz talent and production.

The feed should already be up on your podcast provider of choice. You can follow them on Twitter @FingersBuzzers, and the website is fingersbuzzers.com.

In other news, the Taskmaster book is alright but feels a bit… lightweight? Was hoping for and expecting more behind the scenes stuff I think. Also a large amount of the tasks seem to involve defacing the book. Will be intrigued to know how many people turn up for the Taskmaster tour task suggested.

FOTB Michael Harmstone is on The Chase today. On previous form I expect he’ll do really well only to stuff it up in the last twenty seconds.

Really unexpected French news : I’m A Celeb is returning to (the still desperate about their primetime programming since they don’t had to cancel the latest edition of Koh-Lanta) TF1, twelve years after its first and only season to date here. Exact time of shooting and location unspecified yet.

No surprise at all, it rated well and was always coming back next year, presumably because Brad was busy filming Doctor Who this year.

Not with the same crew, no. But you could rotate the backstage crew in the same way you rotate the Chasers. Pray for Bradley’s voice, though.

How many episodes do they record in one day? That would already be a lot if they were doing just two shows a day!

Three a day, I believe. That’s pretty standard for daytime quizzes.

Although Countdown manages five. It’s actually a really impressive machine to watch live.

Somehow I had five in mind, but the German version has two to three a day, so I thought five was a bit much for The Chase. Though German production is probably slower because they have a studio audience to handle.

          3. TVs Michael Harmstone

I believe it’s two or three a day. All the Chasers are there all day just in case there’s illness or emergencies. They all quiz each other backstage apparently.

A friend of mine, for whom I am happy to vouch, is recruiting for his quiz team in Division 3 of the Tuesday night Quiz League of London. Their home pub is in Hammersmith. If there’s anyone here who’s interested in putting the quizzy into exquisite then I can put you in touch with him.

I like the subject matter of Fingers on Buzzers. I like Lucy Porter and Jenny Ryan but for me this isn’t a pleasant podcast to listen to audio wise. I think they have similar voices and for me they don’t work together on a podcast format.

Might give it a chance to see if it improves

Oops. Ignore last remark… Not used to listening to podcasts on my phone and had the speed set wrong.
