Incredible.

By | July 19, 2019

Just when I thought I was going to have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for #content, cometh the hour, cometh the man, Tim Halbert releases Interceptor 2020. Zack Lawrence meets Chopin meets Harald Faltermeyer at last.

Amazing.

This is worth a listen as well, Charlie Wheeler’s (of WhoProductions fame) cover of the 2019 running round the Fort music:

Interesting problem to solve, whether you could conceive a version of Interceptor in a post 7/11 world. Certainly a tough ask to have people dressed in black chasing around people with electronic backpacks.

I suppose you could have a defined play area of 10 miles by 10 miles and somehow populate it with extras who were all in on the game, supporting either side at their own whim.

The briefcase of cash would probably be some kind of bitcoin credit card no doubt. It would be nice to see if the tech could be improved so that it registers the exact UTC time when the hit occurred, so that you could do a prove-out. And you could potentially get some lovely drone shots as long as you could keep them out of the way of the helis.

Anyone know someone with a large private island they could lend us?

Alternatively, is there any kind of disused military area here in the UK that could reasonably be decorated, fixed up, populated by extras and made to look like an active town landscape? I feel like Top Gear and similar shows have demonstrated viable candidates previously.

I hear that the White Bear Justice Park is currently idle. πŸ˜‰

How about RAF Bentwaters, where Space Cadets and X-Fire were made? There’s a few other similar places around the country.

The map on the original show has a mile scale on it, and the screen is about 8 miles across by 6 miles high in those terms. It looks like the contestants usually had a 4 mile journey to complete to get their key and meet up.

Bentwaters is only 4 square miles. It was also the fake space base for Space Cadets, if memory serves.
