Saturday 9pm-11:30pm,
Here and on Youtube

GAME NIGHT ABANDONED.

Sorry, we ran into technical issues too hard for us to get over this evening. I will sleep on it to try and work it out and try again in a week or two.

I don’t understand how it didn’t work to be honest, specially when both XSplit and OBS were showing our audios in the mixer, very very strange. I’m sure it’ll get figured out and we can enjoy the chaos again 😀

It would be useful if you could do a blog post about it (like the Voicemeeter one) for future ref and for general interest.

Yes absolutely. I suspect there’s an element of overthinking it, I wonder if I can do it all in Elgato Sound Capture (free software) and not have to mess about with mixers at all. I’m having a conflab with Scott next weekend, and thanks also to Ash the Bash who told me his set-up (which is complex!)

For the common good, it would be good to know what the set up would be for, say, a Discord call, a Voicemeeter setup and an OBS stream. It surely shouldn’t be that difficult.

For those who weren’t there at the time of the “incident”, the main two issues we were having is (a) getting the players on the call (in our case it was a Hangout, but whatevs) to hear the game sound, and (b) getting the stream to her the players.

          Anyone?

I have to say, I think XSplit is more intuitive, but I’m sure it won’t be too difficult to transpose.

Incidentally, the other reason I preferred to run from Switch is that I wouldn’t then need to keep changing sources when changing games.

It is a problem that could do with solving if only for future things. When we did the Every Second Counts playthrough, XSplit was recording the sound of the game and the Discord chat absolutely fine but the game sound wasn’t coming through to the callers.

Here’s a flow diagram of how I have my audio configured for my Quiz Night streams (as Brig said before, it’s slightly more complex as it involves 2 Discord accounts): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QHC4unntiMTIP1hP8WLs6i8VhQpv83OD

The reason for the 2 accounts is so that the other people in the call can choose to balance my microphone audio and the game audio individually in the Discord call to suit them how they want.

Alternatively, you can merge both the microphone and game audio into one audio stream and do something like this instead: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lqdLpTzp68ub0H27-Zvx5cIDNtKTiqfH

(This all presumes that you only need to share the game audio with your players in the call and no video – the video sharing on Discord can be hit or miss as to whether or not it just directly sends the game audio through or not)
