Talking Points

By | August 22, 2019

It’s the Edinburgh TV Festival! Where the good and the great in the world of TV meet up to discuss how brilliant they all are.

In lieu of literally anything worthwhile, here are some talking points. If you click the tweets you should be able to see the responses:

And here’s one I like to call “The Rising Value of Stirling”, a variant of which I’ve called my Fantasy Football team this year:

It’s only series two of Game Garage!

Is it getting its own post? (Did the first series get its own post? I think so, but I don’t remember…) This is very good outright, and better than I was expecting; please let me know where would be the appropriate place to gush, so to speak.

Pip is back with his large rings on Sun 1st September @ 19:00

New series. Celebrity edition of the interactive game show, hosted by Phillip Schofield. Contestants Jimmy Carr and Rachel Riley compete against each other to answer visual questions by placing rings on an LED floor in five increasingly difficult stages, hoping to win £50,000 for their teams.

Trust ITV to suddenly decide for a gentle Sunday teatime show ‘ah we need to chuck some celebs into the mix!’

Jimmy Carr is a really odd choice for this, you would think all his humour wouldn’t be “safe” enough for this timeslot, I wonder how much of what he said had to be edited out.

Jimmy Carr, like most of the more popular comics, is well capable of toning down his material for pre-watershed. He’s also been on Celeb Tipping Point. And Dictionary Corner.

Jimmy Carr has been all over the shop: Celebrity Chase, Million Pound Drop, Catchphrase, and who could forget his appearance on Benchmark?

speaking of WWTBAM (vintage) has started airing on true Entertainment. This should mean that challenge, in theory, should start showing other programs. Also, 90% of what Challenge shows now is itv owned. Maybe they own a share in itv due to all the buddy elbows of using all their programs. BBC step up and give more.
