Show Discussion: Don’t Scream

By | January 16, 2020

Thursday 16th Jan, from 8pm
BBC3 (online)

Yung Filly invites a team of three to try to earn £5,000 by doing tasks overnight in a shopping centre. Unfortunately, each time one of them screams £100 gets knocked off, and even more unfortunately the location has been rigged with a load of comedy scares. How much will they take home?

It reads like Five Nights At Freddies: The Live Action Gameshow, basically, and for now it’s a one-off. One Night At Filly’s.

We’re very much positively disposed to this sort of thing and look forward to watching it. I bet they’ll be questions as to “what constitutes a scream or involuntary noise,” though. Anyway let us know what you think in the comments.

The first series of Big Brother on Channel 5 had a task with a similar conceit I believe, and I remember that being really enjoyable.

Dark arts might be required- but here’s the first ep of US Crystal Maze:

    Some info:

-2 games in each zone, Mega-Crystal available once (so max Crystal Dome time is 45 seconds)
-Rules are a little more relaxed (for example, a don’t break the lazer game will be a lock-in after 5 breaks, not 3)
-Crystal Dome reward is Gold tokens minus Silver tokens x $100. If total is $10,000 or more, it gets bumped to $25,000 (and I think the ratio of gold to silver is higher than UK)

Host adds nothing to this, it feels really redundant throughout the show to have him say exactly what they’ve said immediately after.

Format is fine however and can be a sort of replacement of release the hounds but I think you could do this with just the players interviews and no host at all.

In its current state I won’t be watching any more I don’t think. Passable but only just.

I don’t know, I liked it slightly more I think – some really fun ideas and neat effects, my main issue is that I found it quite irritatingly edited although I ponder if that’s old age on my part, at least get some steadycams for goodness sake. I can see the appeal of Yung Filly, but yes he seemed rather surplus to requirements.
