Would you like to take part in a show called “Wilderness (working title)”?

By | July 18, 2020

Worker Bee, a subsidary of Endemol which was recently bought up by Banijay is looking for contestants for Surviv Wilderness (Working Title).

Or you can apply on eTribez. “We would like to remind anyone applying that we are unable to reveal…” it’s Survivor “at this time. It will be disclosed only to successful applicants.”

Admittedly it might not be so caveat emptor – that’s quite a stingy top prize. But we know there have been rumblings for a while, and there was a contestant call out for a similar show before COVID happened that sounded exactly like it, so.

“You must be available for 45 days”, almost exactly the length of a sequester week + one Survivor.

Feels like a long time coming, 100k is stingy but don’t know what I expected, UK reality TV rarely ever surpasses 100k I suppose. Little tinfoil hat theory is since the US cant film in Fiji right now, but Fiji is ready for *someone* to film Survivor, we might be taking their place.

That’s very short notice to be casting for this sort of thing, surely? And why do so many casting calls still only put an email and a phone number on the advert, even when you can apply on eTribez like this one?

Getting an ITV2 vibe from this. Casting is likely to be mainly student/mactor types as most people wouldn’t be able to take so much time off work at such short notice, plus the fact that they’re specifically looking for “outgoing” people rather than people from all walks of life.

£100k would be very stingy for Survivor – didn’t expect £1m but £250k would be more reasonable. Would love to see Survivor get another shot in the UK, but they have to let it be Survivor. It absolutely failed on ITV because they were too concerned with mimicing Big Brother firstly with the scheduling of series 1 and then by adding a public vote in series 2.

The filming dates though suggest if it is Survivor it’ll be one of the only versions filming – the US is now out for this year, as is Australia.

£100k wouldn’t be stingy for British viewers who are otherwise completely unaware of the format or prize money in other countries. The Island had a £100k prize pot.

I think you’re giving the public less credit here than they probably deserve, it won’t take much for journos to link the two together and go “hey, wasn’t the prize for this a million quid twenty years ago?”

100K is in line with some Survivor versions (especially on smaller networks- the original version, Expedition Robinson in Sweden, currently only has about a £42000 prize)- so ITV2 might be a good call; I think Channel 5 perhaps as well (only because CBS owns the channel and they already air it on the network they own in Australia)…

I am in many ways baffled by the fact that Channel 5 don’t air Survivor already, truth be told.

You’d have thought at least an on demand platform would have snapped up the rights to previous seasons.

So does anyone have any other updates on this one? Sounds similar to survivor but saw someone comment on twitter that it definitely wasn’t…
