The big push

The big push for the Only Connect app has started, and you can read what I thought about it here.

It’s a nice app (great feel), but with so many cheaper alternatives (on its own site for example, or Puzzgrid for something a bit lower rent) I think it’s going to be a tough sell at £1.49 for 20 walls, and probably needs to differentiate itself from existing offerings a bit more. As a quality show backed by quality people, I don’t take any great pleasure in saying things like that by the way.

Given that the app must have cost something like £10k-20k to develop, it’ll be a poor show if they can’t make their money back by charging £2-3. I can’t help thinking we’re spoiled these days. Those who think £1.49 is the crime of the century obviously have never had to stump up 70 notes for Zelda.

You’re right. £1.49 is hardly a rip off. I haven’t bought it yet since my iPod Touch needs charging. I remember ten years ago Conkers Bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64 cost £50 and that was at the end of the console’s shelf life.
