A video of some fantasy roleplaying

By | November 18, 2011

Hi there, I’m basically going to be playing Zelda all weekend. Don’t worry, we’ve got some “proper” stuff coming soon. Don’t forget to get your Fantasy X Factor stuff in, managers.

Er, so in the meantime, here’s some Knightmare:

In other news, as part of a C4 30th year mash-up thing, The people from 8 Out of 10 Cats will be playing Countdown, and Davina is going to become a contestant on The Million Pound Drop with her Dad, although that one (assuming this IS that one)Β doesn’t appear to be live. Boo!

    Bliddy ‘eck – over 33 hours without anyone posting a comment… 😯 😯 😯

And as regards Nick Hewer and Countdown, the heat seems to have disappeared very quickly, hasn’t it? πŸ˜• πŸ˜•

While I’m at it, I may as well set this “What comes fourth?” question… πŸ˜‰

    5, E, small mu (approximately), ?

        It is indeed 2. πŸ˜‰

The connection I had in mind was that they’re what you get when you turn seven-segment display numbers backwards. πŸ˜‰

That’s why the third clue is “small mu (approximately)”. πŸ˜‰

I’ve probably said this before, but Countdown and HIGNFY are pretty much the only game shows still using seven-segment displays for the scores…

Rumours are abound that Holly Willoughby has quite Dancing on Ice to join TV’s biggest new show of 2012 – The Voice! πŸ˜€

Christine Bleakley confirmed to present Dancing On Ice from 2012, with Schofe.

And J, I posted that on twitter bout half an hour ago!

And according to the Mirror today, it looks like Bleakley and Adrian Chiles have got the boot from Daybreak.

Remember that today and tomorrow it’s the entertaining madness of Power Snooker on ITV4.

Also, don’t forget that tonight is when ITV1 belatedly celebrate the Festival Of Paul Ross (6:15pm).

Yes – granted, it’s nowhere near as good as proper Snooker but as a specifically constructed one-off speed equivalent I think it stands up pretty well. They could have made more of a hash of it than they have done I suspect! Also, I get how it’s meant to get more, particularly younger, players interested in the game, but I’m a bit lost as to how they think their interest in this will transfer to real Snooker!

They should just revive Big Break don’t you think!

I enjoyed this year’s more. The crowd were having fun but were not nearly as annoying as last year’s crowd – the braying of “cheat, cheat, cheat” last year whenever someone used the rest got very old very quickly.

The rules are still evidently undergoing some playtesting; I’m glad that they’ve removed the bonus for a century break, which was too much of a gamebreaker last year. This year we saw some absolute blowout games and to be honest the format started to creak a bit whenever someone got a sufficiently high lead. I suggest two extra tweaks:

        1) If nobody has potted a ball for a minute, the value of the next ball potted is doubled. Successive minutes of non-potting double the value of the next ball (presumably a red, unless near the end of the frame) again and again. A player with a lead can still play safeties, but eventually even they will be incentivised to pot the 4x or 8x ball, just so their opponent doesn’t, and then resume safety play with one fewer ball on the table. I am not sure whether the penalty for a foul would double and redouble also, but it would be logical. Cueballs played from the powerzone double the scoring further still.

        2) At any point, a player (possibly only the player behind in the match?) can declare “last break”. All scoring in that break (which might stretch from rack to rack) is doubled, even compared to usual doubling rules, but after the break concludes, the opponent has the remainder of the match to play break after break uncontested.

Yes, the timing aspect makes it not a great game for catchupability (especially as if you’re in front towards the end it’s too easy to eat up the clock), although saying that the Selby v Gould semi-final yesterday I caught had quite a fun ending.

Hopefully next year it will have mushrooms and red shells.

I can’t understand why we can’t have Tenball rules for the colours in a break (when there are reds on the table, all colours are the value of the first one you pot), but keep the shot clock, powerball and 30 minute timing, that would be a better balance.

There’ll be promos of The Bank Raid during Million Pound Drop in December. Show is fab.

Either he is right, wrong or lying again. It would seem strange for the company to change the name and logo of the show when they set up a twitter account three days ago.

http://twitter.com/#!/TheBankJob and mentioned the hash tag #BankJob yesterday.

            Ah, I see why he’s using only his initial now… πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

LMAO, he only got 11 in his Final Chase. Diabolical result for him! Trashed by the celebrities. πŸ˜€

Anyway, as regards that Final Chase, the cynics will inevitably say that Mark knew a lot of those questions but wasn’t prepared to let a hundred grand go down the drain… πŸ˜‰

No, I genuinely believe he didn’t know those answers πŸ™‚

Gerry Scotti confirmed on his new Twitter account that the daily edition of The Money Drop in Italy will begin on Dec.12th. and he joked about the crisis:

“I’m looking at the The Money Drop set, but I can’t find the million. Tough times, we’ll give out promissory notes”

      Well that is quite something.

Did they ever release an official Knightmare record? One of the Knightmare Adventurer’s Club newsletters suggested there was something going to be released called The Quest, although I can’t say I ever heard it anywhere.
