Notices 27th Jan 2012

  • What are you doing on Sunday? No, other than that? Well we’re having a good old fun game of Razz from 8pm as the second game in the Mix It Up Real Good series and you’re more than welcome to join us. It’s free to play but don’t register for the tourney and then not turn up otherwise your unsportsmanlike behavior may be PUNISHED.
  • If you don’t fancy MySkyRewards, Applause Store have one recording sessions worth of tickets to give away for Blockbusters. Oh, actually a few more dates have popped up since we last checked. Anyway, I’m not sure I can be bothered but you never know (busy month, train fare, it’s Blockbusters etc) but if anyone reading is going and wants to write a report let me know.
  • We’ve been reading the good fun Gameshow Confessions blog recently. It’s US based, and the confessions run the gamut from ‘stating the bleeding obvious’ to ‘absolutely mental’. We like the way they’re presented.
  • JOE RAZZ!
  • ITV has ordered a pilot for a panel show called Trending Topics with the involvement of Jonathan Ross. That doesn’t sound like Wall of Fame at all (@tvscoops).

Light refreshments included for Blockbusters. Are they expecting the recording sessions to go on for a while then?

I think they’re recording up to three episodes in a block.

That said, I’ve been to several recordings where you get a complimentary drink and chocolate bar, so it’s not unusual even if it not really standard.

Option Two: it’s LATE NIGHT Blockbusters and they’re going to get the audience drunk beforehand.

Deal or No Deal used to give light refreshments in their early days and some recording sessions were for one show but they had to drop it months later. Possibly down to costs and students getting drunk.

I seem to remember tea and biscuits at my taping… although I was too wired up from Tracy’s $35K win to actually eat or drink anything…

It’s been tea/coffee and biscuits for a while with sweets if it’s two shows but back in 2005/2006 you had a voucher (which came in the email pack) so you can redeem a can of beer or soft drink with a packet of crisps.

Haha yes, I still have my DoND drinks voucher from 2006 on my wall! … just underneath the BBC pass I forgot to hand back in after going on Golden Balls 😉

I’m been going to the wrong recordings! To be fair I haven’t been to many over the last few years. The only time I’ve received refreshments was at a recording for a stand up comedian show filmed at Granada decades ago. We were plied with wine – They wanted the audience to be slightly…merry.

The funniest one was Spin Star which gave away bags of Haribo in the hope the audience would get a sugar filled rush!

The US pilot of The Cube was giving away food midway through its (long) evening taping a couple of years back.
Definitely recall pretzels, and also something else I didn’t like. Daniel Peake may remember more.

Can’t remember other refreshments, but then again that was my last taping.

There’s hardly any time to eat the biscuits DOND provide between shows in a filming session now. A cup of tea is out of the question if the preceeding show takes a while to record.
