Gefragt – Gejagt

By | May 2, 2012

It’s not just the US that’s bought into The Chase, according to Nico there’s a celebrity German version coming on NDR.

Also according to Broadcast The Bank Job might be heading for daytime. I think it’s a good idea, it’s a decent format suffocated by production idiots who would be less bothered about impressing the kids this time round. But where would it go on the schedule? (Thanks to Tom H for the tip)

Are y’all thinking what I’m thinking? Will one of the contestants turn out to be. . . Fanny Chmelar?

That would totally rock! It was The Chase that made us aware of her, so they should DEFINITELY have her as a contestant!

Broadcast reporting The Bank Job could be moved to a daytime slot on Channel 4, with a ‘number of changes to the format’.

I do as well. I hope they’ll scrap the frankly draconian concept of allowing only braindead, TOWIE-watching twenty-somethings on the programme, they stop mucking about with the time limits (1:15 with 4 players is nowhere near good enough), they pre-record them to cut down on waffle and technical difficulties, and most of all…SCRAP THE PRISONER’S DILEMMA!!! Nobody wants it and the show doesn’t need it.

I know I said I was done with The Bank Job and didn’t bother watching the ‘celebrity’ ones, but like Brig, I feel there’s a decent format there, it’s just tied down by the moronic production team.

It definitely won’t go in the 4pm slot as Deal or No Deal will now be airing over the summer rather than air repeats.

That would leave it for 5pm. I won’t be surprised if it will be alternative viewing for Euro 2012, Wimbledon and the Olympics over the summer. It’s early to say but I think The Chase will be wrapping up new episodes soon and taking a summer break.

With the format. I suspect they’ll keep it the same with “winner stays on” but I suspect they’ll put places £75,000 in the vaults on each round so the payouts will be half to what we saw in the second series.

So there’ll now be new episodes of DOND all year round?

That feels like yet another spontaneous decision by C4, TBH… just like the recent one to move the weekend episode to Saturday, and the one to show the episode of 21 April before John McCririck and co… 🙄

So, assuming that there’ll be Summer Specials at the end of July, will they be immediately followed by the start of season 8?

Doesn’t this basically become In The Grid if it goes daytime, essentially? Just with a question to blindly pick a square, instead of blindly picking off the bat. I really don’t necessarily mind Bank Job, and I feel just about everything that was wrong with it was due to a poor production decision and not a fault of the game, but I don’t see how they think a daytime version will suddenly do well given the primetime series didn’t. I mean I’ll inevitably still watch, but nonetheless.

I’m intrigued by the idea, it will likely try to have much broader appeal in the daytime (can’t see George Lamb coming back, and you’ll get older contestants as well so less emphasis on youth) and hence a different feel, and probably a different set. I just can’t see Countdown followed by Deal or No Deal followed by The Bank Job working as a schedule.
