Celebrity 15 to 1 films tonight

By | September 13, 2013

Unfortunately we’re not going to be there as we a) have something else on and b) hate travelling to Pinewood Studios (nothing says you hate audiences more than filming at Pinewood). However if you do go then do let us know what it’s like – although please avoid obvious spoilers as the show goes out next Friday night on Channel 4.

Tens of thousands of pounds are apparently on the line, so presumably they’re playing the final for cash for charity.

MEANWHILE Series 8 of Only Connect starts on Monday 23rd on BBC4. They are still after contestants for Series 9 (which according to rumour may or may not well go out on BBC2 – I’ve heard BBC4 might be looking for a new quiz, so.) and applications close for that on October 4th so get a move on.

FINALLY, it’s just three days to go until the new series of Bother’s Bar favourite Avanti un Altro!, and here is an amazing two minute promo for it which you might have to sit through a 30 second ad to get through first. The ending is funny.

In Germany “Promi Big Brother” (Promi = Celebrity) was launched. The average viewer know 4 out of twelve, including David Hasselhoff. Well the majority probably just knows him. Though there are some other quiet well known people like host Marijke Amado (hosted popular 90s show “Mini Playback Show”), Lucy Diakovska (singer of the “Noangels”, who lost terribly at the ESC some years ago), Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen (well she was drunk in a talkshow last year and everyone got to know her, though she’s always been “the girlfriend of celebrity X”) and Martin Semmelrogge (actor, who is a bit… well… weird). The others are a singer of “The Voice”, a youtube uploder, some unknown Boxer, a model for adults (I think, not sure, she doesn’t seem to have a job at all), Fancy (a 70s singer who had some bigger hits), an actor from a scripted reality an a girl from a reality competition. And someone’s missing but I can’t recall who it was at all. Probably some huge Celebrity… Ah no, there no big celebrities…..

I didn’t count correctly thanks to a typo. These are the twelve lets say people (seems more honest than celebrity in most cases).

I think what’s been learnt in our celebrity reality shows is that the quality of celeb doesn’t really matter once the show gets going, although everyone comments on how good/bad they are on opening night.

Very bizarre they allow a family member to go in and take over (from about 19:00 in). Is this just in the Russian version? I can’t see them letting them doing that over here.

Admittedly it would make for an interesting lifeline, but if used every game it would take too much focus off the main player. And opening up the door mid-game to let them go in and out does somewhat spoil the “locked in the Cube” dramatic device.
