Not much happening

By | August 27, 2014

Last time I said I hadn’t updated for a few days as there wasn’t much interesting going on all sorts of stuff came out, so let’s try that again.

Edit: This came up on Twitter – Kalooki Pictures/Hat Trick are looking for pairs of contestants for a BBC quiz pilot, email jamese@hattrick.com. Tell ’em we sent you.

There are some interesting shows in the pipeline, but everyone is on holiday. Expect some announcements in the next week or two.

Beat It premiere, Surprise Show returning, The Clashes introduction in The Voice of Holland liveshow, the FINAL of De Slimste this Friday, Gogglebox premiering in Holland, Roodkapje as a new show on RTL4.

Lots of show coming up in NL…

Must be ‘cos I’m on holiday.

Although if anyone wants me to host a quiz show, I can be back in a few hours. I’m also reasonably priced (i.e. cheap)…

Rhe-an, who put out the contestant call mentioned here, is a mate of mine and a *good* telly person, so please help her out if you can!

We have a few people lined up for auditions, and one team came from Bothers Bar, so thanks so much for the posting! We are still on the hunt though. The more the merrier… 🙂

The contestant call for the “brand new” ITV series called Stars in their Eyes is now up on UKGameshows.com.

Well Wednesday night has traditionally been a light entertainment night – recently Big Star’s Little Star and Mr and Mrs have done quite well there so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

These sort of shows used to generally be on weekdays and frankly weekdays needs a bit of entertainment. Just a shame yet again a 30 minute show is fleshed out to an hour.

Remember the ATV Version of Celebrity Squares with Bob Monkhouse in the 70’s was 45 minutes long so it will be interesting to see whether the extra 15 minutes of the show in the Warwick Davis era will make the show a must watch.

    Some US news:

They’re burning off The Quest- running 2 episodes back-to-back for the next three weeks (and will be against the last pre-season NFL games tonight, the first regular season NFL game next week, and the premiere of Thursday Night Football on CBS the week after that, so it’s gonna get smashed all three weeks)..

Because of Thursday Night Football, USBB’s schedule the last couple of weeks is going to be messed up- there will be a couple of Tuesday episodes and a Friday episode…

The cast of US Utopia enters the compound tomorrow (the 29th) and the live feeds also start that night. If a couple of articles are right, the free feed will be limited to about an hour per day per email address and 2 cameras after the first week or so. The paid feed is $4.99/month and has 4 feeds 24/7 and access to a special 360-degree camera. In case you missed some earlier news, one of the female entrants is secretly pregnant, so if the show lasts long enough and she also stays, we could have a cast addition the hard way…

Survivor’s cast was fully revealed yesterday; 18 players (originally it was supposed to be 20, but one pair got pulled at the last minute by the medics), in a Blood vs Water theme- but instead of Redemption Island, they’ve gone back to Exile Island.

It’s found a level but it’s a pretty low level to be honest, half a mill under the lead-in (and sub-13%) isn’t great. Not a disaster, but I wouldn’t bother getting more if I was in charge. Which I’m not.

There’s a new Family Fortunes app out from the people who did the very decent Catchohrase app. I’ll try and do some sort of review at the weekend.

    Some quick ratings news from Germany;

Rising Star launched on RTL last night. I watched about 30 mins, and then gave up. Pacing way too slow, and the gimmick of the wall wears out pretty quickly. It’s fair to say the ratings aren’t good either. (Continues Saturday)

    Overall viewers – 2.25m (8.4%)
    14-49 demo – 1.39m (14.2%)

Celeb Big Brother has been doing very well over the last couple of weeks. Ratings in the key 14-49 demo are consistently in the day’s Top 3.

Thanks James, probably the closest we’re going to get to a “likelihood of success in the UK” metric I think.

The ratings went south, and RTL is under fire after two disgruntled auditionees complained they were handed out a song instead of selecting one themselves.
