Tell me something I don’t know

By | September 17, 2014

Boring week really (unless you’re in the US, in which case most of the big syndicated shows have returned) although we might have some interesting stuff for you very soon – if nothing else the new series of Release the Hounds starts on Monday and you can rewatch the disappointing pilot on ITV2 on Thursday night. Here’s the trailer for the series, it looks so much more fun:

So what else should I be getting excited about?

Also I’ve just got a new Playstation 4, if you’re on PSN and want to add me, I’m BrigBother. Go ahead. There is a hilarious cheapass rip-off of Buzz! on it called That Trivia Game which I had a go at last night, if nothing else I quite like the way the pad lights up green when you get a question right.

Edit: And then ITV cancels Rising Star before it even airs. Amazing.

It’s quite pleasing that someone has evidently made a decision in TV based on cold hard logic.

Finally, that means there’s now room on the schedule for a second series of Your Face Sounds Familiar.

I think this proves that a show needs more than a gimmick to do well- take away the wall and Rising Star is like every other singing show out there.

This has got to be good news for The Cube though- they’re going to need stuff to plug in this winter (and they were already filming new episodes anyway). It might be a headache for ITV right now, but better to stop it now than have it flop (and this was the purported Dancing on Ice replacement, so while they don’t need a smash hit per se, they can’t afford a flop in those timeslots)

I’m not normally one for virals, but if you’ve not seen this it’s extremely exciting and there must be an end game in it somewhere – a man runs out of a tube carriage and belts it to the next station along to rejoin the same train. It’s tremendously exciting:

It’s the anticipatory shot of the train with its door open in the station that makes it, for me.

Fun idea but the editing is not great. Crying out for a split screen and a continuous take to prove that it really happened.

I spotted this when it was only 4,000 views old so… get me.

Looks like one of the French TV quiz show formats is being prepped for a potential English language debut, according to Greg Scott’s twitter at least. As far as I know, they’ve already covered My Family versus the Nation, Coalition and Hold on to your Seat (all the English names, obviously) – so what’s left? Doubt it would be any of the Lagaf formats, as they have English language roots anyway.

IF we’re looking at Air/Effrevescence (imagination, creation, emotions) than the only one that seems feasible is Slam. But where would that go?

Admittedly, its another one of their pilots, but Slam seems most likely come to think of it.

There’s already been an English language pilot of Slam made with Ray Cokes, although admittedly it was rubbish. It was up on Youtube at one point.

Apparently going under the name ‘Cash Letters’ for the UK, let’s face it, it sounds like Slam again

Some Genius clips up on Bumdi’s twitter! I like what they’ve done with the set.

Deal has been renewed! – Meaning it will end up on the air for at least 10 years which is pretty good going!

Nice to see Release the Hounds coming back next monday. Still i can see some improvements in the show already, the chase moment looks better, there is more cash it would look like.. and of course we got ourselves the men turning in little girls too. This is gonna be good.
