8/10

dalew2_1It’s probably slightly too cropped, but this is a great promo-shot-featuring-the-host-holding-a-question-card effort from Dale on the set of In It To Win It.

They’re filming more episodes in August in Glasgow, tickets from Lost in TV.

In other lottery news, 5-Star Family Reunion starts on Saturday at 8:05pm on BBC1 with Nick Knowles.

Edit: You’re Back In The Room has also been recommissioned, Twitter seems a bit surprised by this – I don’t get it, it was doing 3.5-4m most weeks and it’s sold well internationally, complete no-brainer for ITV.

5 Star Family Reunion sounds like the kind of name that you’d come up with if you had to brainstorm a game show for a task in a team-building seminar, or were making up programme names for a mock schedule for a made-up TV station. I’ve heard absolutely nothing about its creation or how it works so I’ll be fascinated to see how it comes out on screen.

We seem to be getting quite a few new lottery quizzes at the moment, they seem to be freshening up the slot a bit, though it seems bizarre In It To Win It keeps coming back. I know it’s considered to be the most popular lottery show but much of that is because it generally faces weak competition and the most recent run, opposite Britain’s Got Talent, certainly didn’t do much. Just sick they got rid of Secret Fortune so quickly, I used to love that.

Nick’s fifth lottery quiz, this, of course. He must surely be nearly up there with Tarrant and Lord Bob now as one of Britain’s most prolific game show hosts?

I do know that it’s a 12 Yard special (much likw In It and Who Dares Wins) so expect lots of talking answers out etc.

Nick has presented 11 game shows as main host, still some way short of the current leader, Davina McCall (16). Lord Bob did about 15, the same as the Bob Monkhouse of our generation – Vernon Kay.

Bit of a ‘gimme £50k now!’ list to end the current series of Who Dares Wins. I would prefer it if they had to select a envelope or something for the money list to make it a little less fixed as to if the producers want to give some money away or not.

Talking of the lottery, what the hell have they done to the actual lottery show? The new look and music are absolutely horrendous!
