The Two Tribes app is out

By | August 3, 2015

Full review after I’ve actually played it, it’s currently £1.49 on iOS, it’ll be out on Android imminently and I will update when I’ve got a link. Features in-app purchase opportunities.

Edit: I was going to write a full review, but in truth the app isn’t very good and I can’t be bothered. Here’s a mini one I wrote in the comments listing what I think is wrong with it. Can Endemol Games not just outsource to Barnstorm or something?

Mmm, I mean it doesn’t matter what I say or think because I suspect it will fly off the shelves regardless, but in truth I’d be inclined to save your money – lazy character creation, repeating questions already, fairly crucially the actual Two Tribes element is effectively meaningless (you answer a question and then so what? This needed to collect stats from players to see how ‘normal’ you are at the very least considering it affects the quiz not a jot). And then there are small things – the timer showing a .0, that a tie means you’re automatically in the losing tribe, the semi-final doesn’t try to match the show.

If you liked South Park Richard Osman from the Pointless app and want to pay £1.49 for the privilege then by all means don’t let me stop you.

I’m not going to buy it. I never ever managed to get the Pointless app to work – their customer support basically gave up trying. Didn’t even offer a refund.

The Pointless app is very buggy but fun if it was working.

Endemol Games are no Barnstorm it’s fair to say.

Kinda strange with no multiplayer mode or buzzing in to answer and each round lasting only 30 seconds As you quite rightly tweeted Endemol are no Barnstorm but good effort nevertheless

I strongly suspect that’s for the purposes of a pilot, and the prize for a series would be more substantial.

Well Paul, I largely suspect you’d be much better informed than I am.

Although to be honest, the value of the average Raise the Roof prize would probably only just about cover a deposit in Cambridge these days.

Yes, I would imagine a series would feature lots of contestants from ITV’s northern heartlands, very few from London. Which actually works out well, since audience research repeatedly informs me that viewers hate Londoners, for some reason.

Jeopardy! (Rischiatutto) returns in Italy in February 2016

Fabio Fazio hosts and Ludovico “Signor No” Peregrini is the judge (as he was in 1974!)

Just looking around, I was using the dark arts to watch the French version of Win Your Wish List- it’s pretty much the same as the UK version with a couple of changes:

-For one of the prizes, a bonus prize is offered, which is related to the original prize (for example, for a prize of a home gym, a bonus prize of 6 months free use of a personal trainer is offered). If they want to try for it, they have to cut the green zone from halfway across the floor to 40% across the floor (but the floor starts at halfway, so the round starts in the red zone)

-Instead of two Resets, the player answering the questions has one Reset; they have one Switch the player asking the questions can use that will stop the clock, and the two players will switch positions.

-The final round is 70 seconds instead of 60.

Other than that, same rules apply as the UK version; the show runs about 35 minutes with ads.
