Happy Avanti un Altro Day!

By | September 21, 2015

Hurrah! The world’s favourite Italian quiz is back this evening. I don’t know if Paolo Bonolis will be job sharing again this year.

If you don’t know what it is you can read about it here, and fingers crossed you can watch it ungeoblocked on Mediaset catch-up here if you are that way inclined.

CeletheRef has a list of all currently known changes.

Edit: If you’re not following TV Cream spin-off Why Don’t Youtube on Twitter this week you probably ought to as they’re going through interesting gameshow clips.

If you wonder how one can drag out a Big Brother launch night to more than three hours, you should tune in the German Civilian Big Brother Launch tomorrow night. It starts at 19:15 (UK Time) on Sixx, a small women’s channel that belongs to ProsiebenSat.1. The daily episodes will be shown at 21:15 UK Time and 12 people will compete for 100,000€ with one person being eliminated every other week. The season will run for about 12 weeks (which seems short given that only few people will be voted out until then). There is already a lot of criticism about the choice of housemates as most of the confirmed ones seem to be just as famous as the German CBB celebrities (Dating Show contestants, Youtube-Stars, etc.)

The first two seasons of BB Canada were on a similar type of channel (Slice), then it got promoted to the main network (Global TV). 12 weeks is somewhat short- BBUS is ending this week after 14 weeks (though about one too many IMO- it’s been a drag the last couple, though the finale should be interesting- the two people who are eligible for the final HOH comp say to each other they’ll take each other to the final two, but when they’re alone on the feeds we know they plan to backstab each other- so the whole season comes down to one competition known to be a total crapshoot).

http://www.dwdl.de/features/fotostrecke/491_einblicke_ins_bigbrotherhaus/image_0.html Here are some images of the German house, looks beautiful, quiet the way I’d like to live. An the diary room looks like it has two integrated beds, like a secret room.
I hope they will also promote it after some time, although the small channel could indeed help the entire channel family, I think. Sat.1 hasn’t had a hit show in ages (though a child version of “got talent” is pretty successful now and CBB is always a hit in early summer months), so a succesful BB season on Sixx could give them enough hope to promote it and have a hit show again.

Agreed, great looking house. Can’t work out if the birdcage is meant to be a prison or just a sort of summerhouse, hope it’s got heating!

It will be a prison for any rulebreaking. In Germany we usually don’t have that many people in there until Big Brother decides to invent broken rules so they can forbi smoking which will definitely broken so that some people can be send to the punishment place. This used to be a big minus of the German version: they like to bend the rules almost as terribly as the timebomb season of BBUK.

The Good Fairy is a member of the audience given a wig and a wand now to give even more audience interaction with Bonolis, it looks like.

    Are picture questions new?

    Marco Salvati’s back!

I do wonder if there are slightly too many non-cash amounts on the carousel right now – 5 duels, 3 jinxs, Good Fairy, Avanti un Altro and at least one Cambio, unless they’ve changed the mix.

Three duels, three jinxes, three fairies, one Avanti and one Cambio. It makes a total of 54 tubes which the Spanish one had.
I’d add one more Avanti TBH.

Ooh, some fairly big Gioco Final changes – seemingly no time limit to respond but freeze light doesn’t come on until 30k, which I believe were the rules used in Chile last year.

now there is no time limit to answer before the freeze

after the freeze, there are 10 seconds to answer each question

    about Paolo’s job sharing:

Paolo will host Ciao Darwin 7 next Spring so it’s very likely that good old Gerry will come to the rescue.

on the RAI side, Carlo Conti is set to host the Sanremo song contest again, so he will host L’Eredità for this week only and then Fabrizio Frizzi will take over until February.

speaking of L’Eredità, they have updated visuals now.

the only big change is that they cut one round and the final duel now has three players.

Is that Amadeus’ wife playing that popstar character that the cameraman had to translate? What’s the angle with that?

She is La Ciociara who was also in the last series. Her gimmick is that she speaks in a dialect and the cameraman has to translate.

Just to clarify, the Chilean version *DID* have a two seconds time limit for the Juego Final.

It’s very possible I’ve conflated two versions here, someone mentioned in passing that a version did it and I might have lumped it in with Chile.

I believe it may be the Hungarian one, but I may be wrong as I haven’t seen any endgame from that one.
BTW yesterday was the anniversary of Chilean Avanti’s premiere. We’re terrible fans!
