OK don’t answer that here, this is an fact a pointing post to point you towards things you might have missed.
Right now in the The Genius Series 4 comments we’re having a discussion on what the official ranking of The Genius series are. We were here right at the start of The Genius and now it’s really popular we have to stop liking it like the hipster rulebook states, not a rule I like but I don’t get to make them. This is where we start, I would ask you to direct all comments there.
As a sort of fun sidenote, here are the places where we’ve discussed each series: Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Series 4.
Tonight a big embargo on Eternal Glory lifts, don’t click on this freely viewable link until then and view the press pack otherwise you will go to prison (h/t David).
Finally thanks to Daniel H who points out that the premiere of Season 2 of Release the Hounds is currently viewable on ITV Player. I would politely ask you all *not* to talk about it until the Show Discussion post goes up so everything in the discussion is in the same place, but I’m going to bring that forward to tomorrow evening. If you can’t be bothered to watch online it goes out on Wednesday.
a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment from yesterday’s AUA! right after the usual “Laurenti sings, Bonolis tries to stop him” routine

it might be a trick to earn a mention on Striscia La Notizia
Apropos of nothing Matt le Tissier is currently a contestant on Countdown and appears to be storming it. Graeme Le Saux is in Dictionary Corner.
“Matt’s not used to winning in Manchester!”
Sick burn from Rachel, I assume. Anyway he looks like an octochamp in the making.
2.0/7 for Best Time Ever, winning the period.

Minor but interesting change observed: NPH is doing more to make it clear that all of the hidden-camera adventures are elaborately set up with cooperation of friends/family. The “creepy” aspect of mystery cameras apparently didn’t sit too well with Americans. Even in Singalong Live, he now explains that they’re Skype cameras, something I don’t think I ever heard Ant & Dec say.
This never really used to be an issue when Noel did it on NTV twenty years ago, I’d suggest that UK audiences understand it as read that these things are inside jobs.
Thought a question on The Chase tonight was rather dubious, asking something along the lines of “How many Tory leaders have failed to become Prime Minister in between John Major and David Cameron”. The options were 3, 4 and 5 with 3 given as the correct answer, for the three leaders they’d had in that period, but surely as there were only elections in 2001 and 2005 only two of them could be said to have failed to become Prime Minister.
It was at least another outing for the newbie – first time I’d seen her since her debut.
Failed Conservative leaders of recent times were William Hague (1997-2001), Iain Duncan Smith (2001-3), Michael Howaerd (2003-5). IDS was evicted by his housemates and couldn’t be rejected by the public.
I’d say that failing to survive within your party to an election should count as failing to become PM!
I’ll admit to not watching the entire output of SNT, but was there ever a case where (as happened Tuesday night in America) one of the larger-than-life games was called off mid-show due to unfavorable weather?
(The giant-slide-for-a-trip game had been shipped to Chicago, and the couple had already been surprised, taken outside, and suited up, and then NPH came back from commercial and said that, since the winds were over 25mph, the game was unsafe and would be rescheduled “in a few weeks.” He had to fill with a segment of “Get Out of Me Head” that had been recorded for a future show.)
I don’t think it has, which is incredible seeing it’s broadcast in the Winter, although I dare say if the weather isn’t looking that great during the day they’ll replace it in the running order pre-show and we’ll never know.
