Valentine’s Day

By | February 14, 2017

As is traditional, something romantic and inevitably Dutch for Valentine’s Day. We’ve mentioned this before but here’s a question, what UK show did Ron’s Honeymoon Quiz become in the early nineties? The biggest hints are probably about halfway through and the last twenty minutes or so.

Amusingly for all the years Ron’s Honeymoon Quiz was on (about a decade), the tower seems to be the only consistent bit!

I’d love to have seen Bob commentate on that for up to ten minutes.

The answer is Bob’s Your Uncle by the way.

Not to be confused with The Shane Richie Experience which was based on Love Letters.

I think they changed it in later years for the tower to be the last bit, which makes sense really, making the final game the one with the heaviest time-pressure and the one which requires a steady hand.

Yeah, it’s one of those shows that was quietly quite successful in a few places – original Dutch version ran for nine years (according to Wiki), had a few series here in the UK. Think there was a Spanish one as well.

Eternal Glory Season 2 (Ewige Helden) started on Vox tonight. They have improved it a lot!
In 2 hours show we see two games the athletes could practice beforehand and one Heimspiel (translates to home game) where the athlete, who talks about his career in that episode, chooses the game based on his sport. For example today a biathlete chose to have a roller-ski race with a bit of archery included. The Heimspiel is just revealed the day it will happen and they can only try it for a short time.
No athlete has to go home before the last episode and the hosts changed (instead of lovely not-at-all-sporty Ruth Moschner an ex-ski athlete hosts and an actual commentator (I don’t know any of their names) provides good commentary). I like it and will probably watch it more often than last year, especially since this stupid repetitive night game is gone.

    In other news..
ITV Weekday 4/5pm gameshow in real studio audience shocker..

The downside is – it’s Babushka.
For those interested is seeing if STV have ironed out it’s fairly obvious flaws – just from the sales reel..

We already know that Apple Music produces an entire season of Carpool Karaoke, but the will also produce Planet Of The Apps. (Yes, a wordplay so terrible I love it.)
Planet of the Apps sees young entrepreneurs pitch their Apps while taking a 60 second escalator ride to will.i.am, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and some Gary I never heard of. Each Judge/Mentor can “invest” in the apps, but this seems to mean their team will work on perfectioning the app rather than investing money. After the app is done, each entrepreneur will pitch with their Mentor in front of actual money investors. And if the app is successful, it will be available immediately after the show aired on the App Store.
It looks good with very high production values and well known people who can appeal to a worldwide audience. I’m interested to see it!
