It’s Obama Llama: The Gameshow

By | March 10, 2017

Len Goodman to host new family game Partners in Rhyme for BBC 1, 6×30 minutes, created by DJ Matt Edmondson who also created the similar quite fun party game Obama Llama you can buy from Firebox et al. Nobody mention Wonkey Donkey. Press release already points out “it’s a ten from Len!”

Busy weekend at the Bar – Schlag den Star featuring the VERY FIRST English language De Slimste Mens throughout the commentary tomorrow night from 7:15pm followed by the all new series of Wild Things on Sky One on Sunday at 8pm which we will have a Show Discussion post for.

In the meantime, Chris Dickson sent us a link to a Youtube Gameshow themes quiz to our filler postbag. 37 to name, how will you do? Some of them are quite challenging, although I’m only saying that out of politeness because I got them all.

The answers are in the video description, but I will paste them under a cut for you.

7, 14, 19 and 26 stumped me. Also thought 36 was Every Second Counts for some bizarre reason.

    8, 14 and 19 stumped me.

I’m thinking of making one of these of my own. I have some pretty obscure game show themes in my collection, so I’ll see what I can do with them 😉

    24. I’m disappointed with that. Although, to be fair, there were only a couple I feel I should have got. Some really clumsy errors

*REALLY* annoyed I didn’t get 37. I was sitting there going “It’s ITV, late 80’s / early 90’s, I know it!”, just couldn’t quite picture the segue from intro to show.

After several hours of toil, I have finally finished my own game show theme quiz. Have a try at these and see how many you can get. Answers provided in the video description as well as UKGameShows links in case some are TOO obscure 😉

31/40! Thanks for that Andrew, some proper toughies in there, mostly of the slightly bland modern variety.

Flubbed a couple, had 22 down as Wanted and was incredibly annoyed when I saw what it actually was. Came out with 16/40 but very happy with a few of the ones I got. 40 especially I’m always happy to hear.

Glad you both liked. I didn’t want to go with a load of the ‘usual suspects’ when it comes to these theme quiz things. I wanted to make it properly challenging, and I guess I succeeded

19/40 here but thoroughly enjoyed it, with more correct in the second half than the first. A few that I hadn’t heard for a long time but was happy to be reminded of and a few that I didn’t get but left me going “wait, did that lousy show have that great tune?”, which is always welcome. I recognised one of the tricks you used and have another few famous examples in mind where you could have used the same trick but didn’t. Very pleased by some that I did pick out, most amused by one of my favourite shows that I completely managed to confuse with one of my others (32!) and also amused that one of my wild guesses was out by one tune.

Thank you for making and sharing this. Recommended!

28, somehow getting all of the one-series flops and nothing else! Slightly embarrassing.

Still a decent score, though! Only 3 behind Brig, who seems to have the most so far

Got 30. 6/8/12/14/19/22/30 were the ones that tripped me, I had an inkling on Winner Takes All but didn’t write it down. 27 nearly tripped me but I caught it right at the end.

I will say I had Odd One Out primed from the start though, it seems to always pop up in these.
