Yippee-Ki-Yay, Darcy Bussell

Murder in Successville may never ever reach the glorious heights of its first ever episode with Made in Chelsea‘s Jaime Laing but it remains a pretty damn good watch and pleasingly the new series starts today online on BBC3, with a repeat on BBC1 on Saturday night at 23:20.

This one features TV favourite Richard Osman (whom I’m surprised hasn’t “featured” with Alexander Armstrong yet) in an episode entitled The Brass Gnome, trying to catch Bjork’s killer. Professor Green, Lorraine Kelly (who’s already been lampooned on it), Martin Kemp and Reggie Yates are the other celebrity detectives lined up this series.

Unfortunately after getting our hopes up, it doesn’t look like UKTV Play will be showing the first ep of Taskmaster in advance. We’ll just have to wait for next Tuesday. Edit: Or will we?

Edit Edit: First ep of new Taskmaster! I will put a Show Discussion post up for this on Tuesday for the broadcast. Please don’t spoil any tasks until then for people who want to wait for the TV version but feel free to give initial impressions.

Edit Edit Edit: Meanwhile here’s your Landlord, who quite clearly is the King Of All Media now, in a new episode of Dan Peake’s Codebreaker:

The last mutterings I saw from the UKTV Play twitter suggested that it should be up tonight, all being well?

Either way, Successville will tide me over.

  2. Brig Bother says:

I’m actually not going to watch Successville until Saturday afternoon, as it’s something my mum quite enjoys and that’s when I’m going round next.

  3. Initial impression: about as good as the previous series, hurrah!

  4. Dan says:

Watched the first ep of taskmaster. Just from the prize task I think this will be the best series yet.

Re: Taskmaster, as someone who thought series 3 started a bit slow, especially in the lateral thinking department, this seemed off to a strong start.

  6. Matt Clemson says:

I’ve often thought the live tasks have been a little weak in the past, but I thought tonight’s was very good with quite a bit of nuance – that said, I thought it could perhaps have been presented to the audience in a better way (I don’t think they ever laid out quite what the options were, did they?)

Curious if this is a sign of an overhaul on the live tasks for this series, but I guess we’ll have to see more before we can come to that conclusion. I’ve also got spoilery thoughts, but I’ll hold off until the main post for that.

  7. I’m very much enjoying the expansion of Taskmaster lore.

Mel Giedroyc will host Letterbox. It’s a 30 minute show for BBC 2, so I think it will air in the Debatable slot.

Also a new gameshow is in the pipelines
    http://www.itv.com/beontv/shows/brand-new-itv2-game-show

It’s for itv2 and sees people go up against a team of celebrities in games that involve party tricks. Need more information before I can judge it

Just caught up with this, very funny. Doubtless helped by Tom Davies and Richard Osman probably having previous on Fighting Talk or whatever. Some masterful deduction, slightly odd that Ramsey basically just repeated everything Osman just said, but still.

Wow, this series of MiS is really impressing me, I feel like the production values, slickness of the improv, and general confidence have been dialled up a level.

“This was only meant to be a 2-minute segment” had me in stitches.
