League Structure
We wracked our brains trying to work out a structure where people remain competitive, but rewards those who finish very highly, especially in decently sized tournaments. We're not entirely sure how many people are going to play each tournament, so we've come up with the following:
Position |
Points |
1st |
10 |
2nd |
7 |
3rd |
5 |
4th |
4 |
5th |
3 |
6th |
2 |
7th-10th |
1 |
But that isn't quite it:
-
Everyone who plays is guaranteed a point.
-
For every four players or part thereof above ten, another rung is added to the bottom of the ladder worth one point, and all the other rungs are bumped up a point.
-
The winner scores an extra point for every complete 10 players that play, if 20 or more people turn up.
-
Second place scores an extra point for every complete 20 players that play.
-
Bonus points are applied after the bumps.
For example, if 25 people were to play, the points would work out like this:
Position |
Points |
1st |
16 |
2nd |
12 |
3rd |
9 |
4th |
8 |
5th |
7 |
6th |
6 |
7th-10th |
5 |
11th-14th |
4 |
15th-18th |
3 |
19th-22nd |
2 |
23rd-25th |
1 |
At the end of the series, the top three in the league win a bonus £60, £30 and £20 for finishing first, second and third. And that's on top of any other prizes they might win along the way!
