Split or Steal?

By | February 3, 2020

Something that may be of interest to punters, a free to play game released on Steam the other day called Split or Steal which, yes, is Bother’s Bar format favourite The Prisoner’s Dilemma as an online player vs player live experience. Make and risk fake money to buy things which make you more fake money and then make BIGGER RISKS for BIGGER FAKE MONEY.

Not sure I see the appeal but lots of positive reviews (I haven’t played it myself) but if this looks like your sort of thing then knock yourselves out.

One of my favourite gaming streamers, Northernlion, has tried this game for about half-an-hour or so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPE2vPlSdZ4

There is a little more than just the Split/Steal (and discussion) format here: “Buying” to modify stats or potential money-income has already been mentioned. “Karma” a.k.a. Good or Poor standing can influence one’s decision, as can the live information stating that “Your opponent had previously Stealed”! However, if you can make it to tier/levels 8, 9 and 10 – without losing in the previous tier – then the information (which normally also includes your opponent’s name and “clan”) is not given.

Tonight the Sanremo music contest begins! Who’s going to be Italy’s unofficial ESC entry?
Will anyone attempt to get hurt like Peter Gabriel in 1983? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U6l46cDVmo We’ll know everything next Saturday (more likely next Sunday at 1AM or later)

for now, a couple promos with this year’s host, Amadeus.

It makes me feel rather old when I looked up the highly entertaining Split or Steal Channel 4 vehicle, The Bank Job (entertaining more so due to the many various George Lamb presenting gaffes) to find it aired EIGHT YEARS ago!
