5 going ALL-IN on Sally Lindsay

By | May 1, 2025

Fresh from Sally Lindsay’s 70s Quiz Night, it looks like five are turning Sally Lindsay’s Quiz Night into a franchise, there’s an 80s Quiz Night and a Christmas Quiz Night incoming but that’s not the end for our ertswhile Tenable stand-in host! She’s also a team captain on the new and improved Celebrity Puzzling with Carol Vorderman and new host Jeremy Vine. Hopefully don’t do counting igloo bricks this time, eh?

Hopefully she will be doing a poker-based quiz called All-In With Sally Lindsay on Five next, although that’s copyright me now so pay up.

Yet another quiz hosted by the less likable Vine sibling – what exactly was wrong with Lucy Worsley’s hosting that prompted 5 to oust her in favour of Mr. Unctious himself?

Yeah, fair enough…but JEREMY VINE? Be more imaginative, 5!

Truth be told, when it came to Eggheads I always preferred Dermot.

I’m taking it that when C5 (sorry, but I’m continuing to put ‘C’ or “Channel” before the number no matter what) and Potato were deciding on Lucy’s replacement, the other Vine brother did not cross their minds at any point?

What a shame – *and* what a missed opportunity. (Think about it: Tim TRIUMPHANTLY returns to C5 after TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS away.)

I’m kind of looking forward to Celebrity Puzzling. Have to admit I wasn’t very fond of the Lucy Worsley version I got bored after a few episodes
The fact that 5 have made a big U-Turn and brought it back tells me they knew it had potential but certain elements just wasn’t quite right after all quiz shows are the thing which currently holds a channel together and is the biggest ratings winners hence ITV Quiz
    Changes made in the reboot
    – New set design (looks like the set of blockbusters)
    – New host (Jeremy Vine)
    – Introducing regular team captains (Carol Vorderman and Sally Lindsay)
    – Having pairs of celebs rather than threes
    – New rounds such as Join The Dots, Thirdle, Shapeshifter, Heat Map, Cinema Cypher, Song Cypher – Returning favourites are back In Other Words and Memory Bank. Much better variety compared to S1
    – The PI suggests every episode has new stuff. In series 1 the rounds were the same in every single episode which got boring the new celeb version has a more varied running order so it won’t get as repetitive there is always something different to look forward too and a decent line up of celebs too.
    – New timeslot 7pm which is good in my opinion – Doesn’t clash with any ITV/BBC1 daytime quiz show or any big prime-time show all it’s up against is the news meaning hopefully a boost in ratings.
    – Episodes getting stripped across the week everyday rather than airing them one a week. Most viewers like a daily fix and the fact this is on daily will hopefully keep viewers coming back for more.
    – Oh and also we are fast approaching ITV’s silly season where they dig through their stash of repeats and films. Because their content is so rubbish and lazy this time of year at least channel 5 have logic airing a new quiz show to provide entertainment lovers with something fresh to watch.

Can’t wait to see how it plans out.
