Friday-Sun 9pm and then Thurs-Fri 9pm,
ITV1
It feels like ITV are really pushing this, six families (or various) move into a street and will compete in challenges and politically strategize to eliminate everybody else (although it sounds like others will move into the street as the 12-episode run progresses). The winning household gets £250,000. Graham Norton, who you’d assume can choose his own projects these days, plays host.
On paper it’s Survivor meets Brookside meets Gogglebox, big emphasis on domestic life and neighbourhood gossiping and relationships – seeing what tone this strikes ought to be quite interesting – the adverts suggest it will going for a comedy, middle class surburban curtain-twitching neighbourhood-watch sort of feel. In my head challenges are things like bowling with garden gnomes but I would hope they’re a bit more interestingly pitched than that.
Really hard to see this as a weekend sort of show that they appear to be putting it out as (although I suppose Gogglebox doesn’t shout Friday night on paper), and also not the first time the idea has been tried, a US show called There Goes The Neighborhood where CBS built a 20 ft wall around a block of houses and had the households compete against each other for a $250k prize was a one-series wonder in 2009 and the fact nobody talks about it is possibly telling.
We’ll see though. Let us know what you think in the comments.

After the launch weekend it’s just Thursday and Friday at 9pm (Not Saturday)
NEW : It’ll be alright on the night is at 9pm on the Saturday.
Changed, thanks.
I get House of Games vibes ( not Richard Osman’s House of Games ) but the one that was on Challenge presented my Mike Mcclean

This with a tad more Big Brother mixed in
I’m finding this a real struggle. It’s been so boring so far.
Same, I’m not a fan either got it on in the background while waiting for I’m a celeb south africa there isn’t much that is drawing my attention to the screen. Big effort on the set design for such a drab show.
Will give it time but honestly not looking promising.
It’s not immediately grabbing, although I like the set dressing but there’s a weird jarring between its Emmerdale set-up and really quite American reality take on the procedural aspects, “immunity challenge” and “immunity from the vote” and “you can’t vote for The Scouse Haus because they won immunity in the immunity challenge” just doesn’t really feel right, I half expected Graham Norton to introduce the elimination with “I’m Graham Norton” and then the contestants all clap for the next ten minutes.
I will probably end up watching this weekend but it’s going to have to get more interesting quickly. Obviously waiting until episode two for a result can sod off.
1.2m ep 1, half of I’m a Celeb around it.
First three eps boxsetted by the way.
Watched episode 2 and to be fair the drama’s starting to build, although it’s a shame the Immunity Challenge ends with an engineered situation that basically makes the previous 15 minutes of television a complete waste of everybody’s time. Also the episodic cycle is quite annoying.
I think what most frustrates me is how *standard reality competition* format the game seems to be, you might not have seen families in houses before but you’ve definitely seen the basic formatting.
But we like it enough as something to watch that we’ll watch episode three over dinner tomorrow, although I’m not sure we’d be going out the way for it.
540k ep 3 (not including pre-broadcast), somehow making Genius Game look like a massive hit – and that at least tried to be something unusual.
Now you can binge watch the entire series on ITVX.
Someone at ITV’s having a laugh:
