{"id":2316,"date":"2010-10-14T23:14:06","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T22:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bothersbar.co.uk\/?p=2316"},"modified":"2010-10-15T18:06:42","modified_gmt":"2010-10-15T17:06:42","slug":"and-why-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bothersbar.co.uk\/?p=2316","title":{"rendered":"And why not?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to a tip from a forum, here is a very interesting BBC documentary from 1984 called <strong>Come on Down<\/strong> fronted by film critic Barry Norman\u00a0on the American gameshow:<\/p>\n<p><center><object width=\"560\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/uhEzj4SFffU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The other parts aren&#8217;t linked very well, so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9p8YKwkzUp4\">here&#8217;s part two,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0ce0w6ELWI0\">part three<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-rGQUcQ8QmM\">part four<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NiLEm8hLEmw\">part five<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back when SKY was a fledgling service, it used to show US gameshows quite a lot. The two things you&#8217;d notice was a) how excited the contestants get and b) how big the prizes were. These days, we seem to be able to outdo the Americans in the prizes stakes, but our contestants remain slightly more, er, reserved. Unless they&#8217;re shouting at each other of course. In that sense, I find the contestant co-ordinator interviews here quite interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Also, reports from recent recordings suggest that <strong>Deal or No Deal <\/strong>is getting a third ad break.
