BB 11 > BB10

By | July 1, 2010

I have to say, I’m loving the current set-to between Ben and the Chest of Drawers of Temptation – good on him for standing up for himself, I say. It’s also worth watching the follow up Tree conversations in the news as well.

However, my V+ box stuffed up last night’s recording and I’m unsure how bothered I am to continue watching. Still, three weeks is about three weeks better than I watched last year, so that OFFICIALLY makes BB 11 better than BB 10. Well done!

Birthday Broadcasting Corporation

One of my favourite buildings in the entire world, and certainly my favourite place to go and see things being taped – BBC Television Centre – is 50 today.

Come on, how can you sell this off?

In other news, I’m aware that ads for 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow  have started appearing, although I’ve not caught one yet. I do know it starts on Saturday July 10th, which is the night Fort Boyard starts also.

Has Run For Money turned up anywhere yet, anyone?

Accent to Win It

By | June 27, 2010

Today I revisited Minute to Win It. I originally thought it was a bit dull and stodgy, but time has been kind to it and recent episodes are mildly entertaining – nothing to set the world alight, but good fun.

Anyway, it’s come to my attention that there’s now an Australian version. It’s OK, although I get the feeling the more difficult games get played earlier than they do in the US. But the big question is: Darren McMullen – what is that accent?

We have a winner!

Andrew Smith has won the Bother Series of Poker. The official results are now up!

I’d just like to thank everyone who took part for taking part, I had a lot of fun running it and enjoyed the chat especially. Commiserations to Simon Fox, who probably deserved better on account of his shorter stack games but never really got the results in the specials. And commiserations to Greg Bananaman, last year’s champion who now passes the baton.

Hopefully it will be back next year a bit bigger – if you didn’t play, you missed on a lot of fun. And rather a large amount of my money, ahem.

Look out for a new competition soon, Fantasy X Factor in the Autumn, and possibly a one-off HORSE Hilarity poker tourney sometime in the interim. And if winners want to pose with prizes and trophies, do send your pictures in.

July!

  • The Bother Series of Poker Grand Final (Tonight, 8pm, Full Tilt) – don’t forget, if you’re intending to play but also intend on turning up late then make sure you register beforehand. The discussion page for the final is here.
  • Run For Money (Tonight, Fuji TV) – HUNT-AH! Fingers crossed for a dodgy Youtube stream.
  • Wipeout (Tuesday and Thursday, ABC) – twice a week again this week.
  • Downfall (Tuesday, ABC) – probably won’t bill this for a third time, but enjoyed the first one enough  to think it’s worth checking out if you didn’t see the first one.

So there we are. Otherwise, if you like sport you are plenty catered for this week.

Edit: Today’s (i.e. Sunday’s) Deal or No Deal is well worth a watch, I’m told.
