Many thanks to Brian W Moore to linking to what seems to be a Japanese version of Treasure Hunt, which appears to be called Satellite Quiz. The title of the video suggests it’s a Sunday Special (Brian points out in the e-mail “the episode I’ve linked looks like it is not a regular one as It has some behind-the-scenes footage.”) It’s from 1984, produced by the people behind Trans-American Ultra Quiz.

I had no idea such a thing existed, incredible find.

Edit: Alright, not a full episode at all really, more of a behind-the-scenes/preview episode. Some fun takeaways though:

• Love the set, dominated by a satellite. The clue comes down a pipe.
• The clues are written on parchment!
• Looks like they did a pilot on the French set.
• Most importantly, if the contestants want to talk to the Skyrunner it looks like they have to sound some sort of klaxon first.

Sounds like there might only have been two “proper” eps broadcast, which kind of makes sense as if there were more you’d assume we’d know about them. Still, though.
