Pro 7 and naughty internet streaming

Schlag den Henssler is back, and a plucky contestant will be attempting to win €250,000 by besting celebrity chef Stefan Henssler over 15 mystery events.

As ever, we’ll be here attempting to provide commentary, gossip and games, and we’re likely to be a while so do feel free to dip in and out.

Watching the live Pro 7 stream might be a bit more difficult than it has been previously.

Our commentary stream link will appear here – live from 7:15 to around midnight.
This stream is commentary only. You will need to have a naughty stream running at the same time for the visuals. We are likely to be about 15-20 seconds behind the visual stream (and about a full minute behind if you’re watching an actual satellite feed), sorry.

At time of writing, there is a live decent quality low-fuss live stream. We cannot guarantee it will always be working.

The Opera VPN has apparently stopped being useful for SdH. Bother’s Bar recommends shelling out for a proper VPN service. Bother’s Bar uses Tunnelbear, other VPN services are available. Matt Clemson recommends Windscribe as a free alternative. We cannot take responsibility for anything you do to your system, so be careful and use some common sense.

To watch it would be useful to sign up for ProSieben’s catch-up service – it’s pretty simple to work out, don’t click the box if you don’t want e-mail messages. You will need to put in a proper e-mail because it will send you a confirmation.

If anyone knows of any relatively safe livestreams, do feel free to share.

Show Discussion: Who Wants to be a Millionaire? 2018

By | May 4, 2018

Saturday 9:15pm,
Rest of the week 9pm,
ITV

It’s back for a week of specials for the 20th anniversary (i.e. it’s a sly pilot) and it’s got a new host in the divisive Jeremy Clarkson. But Millionaire is back, whether anyone really gives a damn or not.

Also back: the 15 question money tree and by the sounds of it the original Strachan music score. The set looks very pretty (I was worried the video floor was a bit too eye-popping but it feels much better in that context). There’s a new Ask the Host lifeline, and contestants will set their own second safety net which may or may not lead to some interesting decisions. I hope it makes the show a bit less predictable.

Whether this show lives or dies beyond this week depends on, I suspect, a willingness to give the impression it’s OK with giving serious cash away, If they’ve made the questions so hard everyone stops at eight- or sixteen-thousand everyone’s going to get bored very quickly, excitement over the hosting choice or not.

Show Discussion: Busted

Whenever you want,
Netflix

We’re very excited to see more Korean variety programming come to Netflix (COME ON, THE GENIUS), this one sounds a little bit like Whodunnit? and looks like it might be great fun.

The Netflix blurb:

Tackling different mysteries in each episode of this game show, seven sleuths get closer to solving the biggest one of all: What happened to Project D?

Episodes run to about 90 minutes. The first two are up right now.

Show Discussion: Taskmaster S6

By | May 1, 2018

Wednesdays, 9pm
Dave (also UKTV Play)

It says something about a show that we’re willing to put up a show discussion post every time a new series comes up, but there’s usually so much to comment on regarding Taskmaster it seems the best way really.

So here we are again. The victims for season six are:

  • Alice Levine!
  • Asim Chaudry!
  • Russell Howard!
  • Tim Vine!
  • Liza Tarbuck!

I reckon Howard will be the one Davies tends to pick on, Tim Vine will do well in most of the objectively judged tasks and Liza Tarbuck will end up winning. Levine and Chaudry are unknown quantities for me in this regard (although I can at least say I liked Alice on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side years ago)

The show has gone from a tight six episode run to a slightly flabbier eight episode run to a supersized ten episode run. We felt the hit rate for tasks for the recent runs was a bit lower (although to be clear the show was still entertaining) so we at least hope there’s not too much filler across the next ten weeks. And there are three more series of ten to come.

It’s badly timed Schlag den Henssler this week!

That’s right! Forget the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? revival this Saturday, it’s all about the next exciting edition of Schlag den Henssler.

We haven’t quite worked out what we’re going to do yet, WWTBAM? is such an important show we might just watch that and join SdH for the final couple of hours which would give us an excuse to talk about how good or bad the Millionaire revival is LIVE. We’ll see.

Edit: Looks like we’ll live commentate Millionaire as well.
