I Love My Country

By | July 13, 2012

Reflex films today, which is good news for people who like watching people fall through eight foot balloons (whatever that means) – hopefully we will have a write-up over the weekend.

In the meantime, Talpa’s I Love My Country is coming to the BBC, David Walliams is hosting and Frank Skinner and Greg Davies are the team captains. Members of the audience who support the winning side will go home with, it says here, “a special ‘I Love My Country’ prize.” I joshingly predict black pudding.

If that sounds interesting to you (it’s been a fairly successful show in its native Netherlands) you can get tickets from TVrecordings.com, the pilot films Monday 23rd July at TV Centre.

I’m back!

By | July 12, 2012

“Normal” “service” “resumes” tomorrow (“tomorrow”). In the meantime there’s a poker tournament tonight and you’re ALL invited!

It’s Le Tour, so it’s time for Le Tournoi – KING OF THE MOUNTAINS – hold ‘em as a second category climb.

– 5,000 starting stack
– 5 minute levels
– $10+1 buy-in
– Dope yourself up with an optional rebuy or add-on ($10 each limited to one rebuy in the first half hour, add-ons worth 7,000 chips), or try to win it clean!
– Winner Takes All.

I’m also going on a poker trip to London very soon, so if that goes well I might add some value. And if it doesn’t I won’t.

This is likely to take 2-3 hours depending on how many players we get.

You will need to be a member of Brig’s Poker Club to play, all the details can be found here. Don’t leave it to the last minute as I have to approve all new memberships, but becoming a member is free.

Prize Island

By | July 9, 2012

Alexander Armstrong and Emma Willis to host ITV1 and Endemol’s new show Prize Island, apparently.

The show is said to be a cross between Total Wipeout and I’m a Celebrity and set in Madagascar, and we gather the games are built around the prizes themselves.

It’s nice to see talented up and comers such as Armstrong get some TV work.

2013 Edit: Thanks to Ashley, to everyone asking where it’s filmed, it’s believed to be Bazaruto Island off Mozambique. No idea where Madagascar came from, sorry.

Show Discussion: Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The People Play

By | July 9, 2012

ITV1
9pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Yeah, wooh! The public.

Three special live editions where not only do members of the public get to sit in the hotseat, but everybody playing along at home can get their name and lights and even help out the contestants in the studio. Here’s the Millionaire site where you should be able to play along.

Edit: Although it sounds like Ask the Nation has been ditched.

Board of Excitement 8th – 14th July

By | July 8, 2012

Right, I’m busy for the next few days (although I will still be sproadically around) so here’s a Board of Excitement to tide you over:

  • The Great Escape (Sunday Night, TNT in the US) – Episode two of this turned out to be slightly more interesting than episode one, so we’ll see.
  • It’s my birthday (Monday, all day) – 31, in case you were wondering.
  • Amazing Race Australia (Monday) – This is still a great series generally, but there have been fewer surprising challenges compared to the first one this time round I feel.
  • All New Blockbusters (Challenge, 8pm) – The new series begins with a christmas celebrity special.
  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: The People Play – Three evenings of live shows beginning Monday at 9pm with members of the public. This time round you can play along at home and the results will get announced from the studio, and there’s an “Ask the Nation” lifeline. There will be a Show Discussion post set-up for these specials.
  • King of The Mountains (Thursday 8:30pm, Pokerstars) – it’s Le Tour, so it’s time for Le Tour(noi). $10 buy-in tournament. All the details here. It’s open to anybody elegible.
  • Reflex (Friday) – This is filming up in Salford. We have people going so look out for a write up.
  • Fort Boyard2011 episodes on TV5 (not being shown in the original broadcast order, in case you were wondering) on Saturday at 5:24 apparently, although it was meant to be 5:26 this week just gone and they slipped in a ten minute extra programme. Meanwhile episode 2 of the 2012 season goes out on France 2 at 7:35pm UK time, although that was about ten minutes late yesterday as well. Those pesky French and their timekeeping, eh? Discuss the 2012 season through this link.

17 Meter

By | July 8, 2012

So, amongst all of last night’s excitement, did anyone watch 17 Meter? Apparently dentistry was involved.
