My Last Eurovision Breath, James Newman.
Ticket to Ride
I’ve been playing a lot of the board game (and soon apparently to be a reality gameshow) Ticket to Ride recently, specifically we’ve been trying to explore more of the variants – everyone loves Europe, I’ve got a personal love of the stocks and shares aspect of the Pennsylvania board, and I tried playing the UK board last night but it was, frankly, a bit out there with its rules variants. Anyway, what’s your favourite expansion?
I wanted to illustrate the post with a video. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be copies of Gyles Brandreth’s Railway Carriage Game on Youtube. Gladiators: Train 2 Win a bit too clever. The best in terms of most obscure then is probably Commuter Quiz, the cryptic crossword competition from the mid-eighties.
Trove Tuesday
Bullseye was a general knowledge quiz mixed with darts.
Big Break was a general knowledge quiz mixed with snooker.
The Full Swing was a general knowledge quiz mixed with golf.
For What It’s Worth was a general knowedge quiz mixed with antiques valuation.
Happy Pancake Day.
Shilling for A MAN
Seems reasonable enough.
Shilling for THE MAN
I know, but this is worth advocating for I think.
Thanks to Gizmodo, we’ve learnt that Sky’s streaming service NowTV are doing a flash sale – £1 for a two month entertainment pass.
So if you’re looking for a cheap way to watch Comedy Central’s upcoming Gods of the Game starting March 9th, from the people behind Bother’s Bar favourite Wild Things, there’s your (and my) in. I don’t know how long this flash sale lasts for. Edit: Looks like March 1st.
Remember to cancel your pass before the two months is up or you’ll be charged £8.99 per month until you do (although perhaps you’ll be alright with that).
Snow Discussion: Very Hard Questions

Wednesdays, 8pm and 10pm
More 4
Here’s a show that sets its stall out quickly: C4 newsreader Jon Snow’s here and he’s going to be asking some very hard questions. For an hour.
Two teams will be battling it out in what looks like a single-elimination knockout tournament for a trophy (if the advert is anything to go by).
They’re bigging up the questions, so we’re intrigued to see if they’re actually as difficult as they say they are, and if they are is it still fun and entertaining? Say what you like about Only Connect, but the creativity on show with regards to the questions still makes it an intriguing watch even if you don’t know the answers. I hope it’s not just Slow University Challenge.
I won’t be able to watch the first ones live, so I’m interested in your thoughts, do leave them in the comments.
