Show Discussion: Red or Black?

By | September 3, 2011

7pm and 9:15pm Saturday and variously across the week, ITV1

Well here we are then, months of speculation come to a head this week as Syco’s Red or Black? hits our screens potentially making seven millionaires.

And basically I have got no clue as to a) whether it will be any good or not or b) if it will be successful. I think if the games are quite You Bet-esque then it’sd in with a shout, and that’s initially what it sounded like, but since then we’ve seen pictures of people hoping to match a big jack in the box and picking cars and I’m not sure I see where the entertainment value in that lies.

Similarly will the excitement wear off after the first million, or will people tune in to that spin every night? Time will tell, use the comments thread for your thoughts.

  • Al Star Family Fortunes 6:05pm, ITV1 – Lisa Snowdon vs Will Mellor
  • Secret Fortune 7:45pm, BBC1
  • The X Factor 8:15pm, BBC1
  • The Million Pound Drop – Live! 9:15pm, C4 – there’s already a recent discussion post for this.

That’s Yer (Pi)Lot: Stars in a Spin

Films in Machester today. Is anyone going to it? I’m interested to hear what you think.

I can’t say the title fills me with a great amount of confidence, second only to Guess the Star in the category of shows likely to rate less than 3m on the title alone stakes. Stephen Mulhern’s hosting this.

Show Discussion: Minute to Win It

By | August 30, 2011

8pm, ITV2

Alright so this is on tonight and in true Bother’s Bar fashion these days I’m going to have to watch it on catch-up, although it’s alright because I was in the audience for one of the episodes.

It’s quite a different take on the original format, here two teams led by Joe Swash and Caroline Flack battle against each other in a number of minute-long games, emphasis on fun, one team gets a shot at a decent cash prize. I’ve no idea why Darren McMullen of the Aussie version is hosting this but he is and I thought he was quite good, so.

I look forward to reading your comments.
