Audience site round-up

By | August 16, 2020

I haven’t bothered checking them out for ages, but it turns out there’s interesting news out there. In no particular order:

  • From SRO, The Masked Singer is recording its second series from 14th September at Bovingdon Airfield, it’s looking for an audience.
  • Also from SRO, they were looking for pairs of people for a runthrough of a show called Beat the Interrogators, which sounds like Tell the Truth. That was a few days ago.
  • Family Fortunes with Gino d’Acampo is recording at Television Centre 2nd-4th September. Tickets are available at Applause Store.

Disconnected

Here’s some fun, Tom Scott’s and David Bodycombe’s new series Disconnected. The virtual set is really nicely done and the game is a fun game of bluff. Extra points for having a contestant in the first episode I’ve actually heard of.

Speaking the Lingo

By | August 13, 2020

Broadcast reporting that ITV have commissioned words meets Mastermind meets bingo format Lingo, with Adil Ray to host. Congrats to Buzzerblog for spotting the contestant call out a few days ago and suggesting correctly it “sounded like Lingo“.

My main concern is that an hour of it feels like it might be a bit much. Still, though.

It’s not the first time the format has been tried in the UK, it’s fair to suggest it’s had much more success internationally.

Game of War

Thanks to the ever joyous Neil Miles Youtube channel, an episode of Game of War has surfaced, from 1997 back when Channel 4 was interesting. It’s a fairly dry re-enactment of famous battles done as a professionally run tabletop wargame – like a proto-Time Commanders, if you like, but with little of the spectacle. Angela Rippon hosts and provides news reports.
