Loadsanews

We’ve hit a rich seam of news. Hold on tight!

  • When you think afternoon quiz, what do you want from a host? You want gravitas with a lightness of touch of course. Therefore we can think of no better choice of host for ITV’s upcoming afternoon quiz Ejector Seat than the one, the only Andi Peters! Instead of pushing the big button to start the X Factor winner’s CD being manufactured, he’ll be pushing the big button to tip a losing contestant’s chair backwards. And you can watch this recording up in Manchester over the next few weeks if you fancy it, tickets at SRO.
  • Chocolate Media (a branch of NBC Universal) have a new daytime quiz lined up for ITV called The 21st Question, where ten contestants face-off against each other in a general knowledge quiz but only the last person left standing will get to answer the 21st question for the cash prize. Gethin Jones is hosting and it’s ten episodes in a sixty minute slot, so likely to be one of this year’s The Chase summer replacements then. Just under three minutes a question maths fans, so expect lots of “tension”.
  • Applause Store had a show up this morning called The Link filming in Glasgow (although AS seems to have gone down at time of writing so you’ll just have to trust me), where you answer questions and have to figure out the link between the answers. We liked this when it was called Connections and on in the eighties.
  • Pointless is filming a bunch of new episodes in variously in March through to May at Elstree. Tickets SRO.
  • Finally there’s a new BBC3 panel game called Junk hosted by Joe Lycett where comedians try and win unwanted items bought in from the audience. What looks like a pilot films at Wimbledon March 11th.

New adventure game casting

By | February 4, 2014

There’s a new ITV adventure show casting (I’ll stick my neck out here – likely to be ITV2) promising BIG MONEY for you and four friends if you fancy it (that link won’t work because it’s just a cut and paste poster, but this one should) :

You can click on the poster if you want to make it bigger. Closing date is Friday week. The last time an adventure show was advertised in mysterious circumstances it was Release the Hounds, we don’t believe this to be it unless they’re changing the format to match the new German version. We don’t know what this is but then stepping into the unknown is the basic definition of an adventure isn’t it? So there we are.

Bother’s Bar Poker Superbowl SPECIAL tonight 8pm

By | February 2, 2014

I say Superbowl Special, I’ve got no idea who is in it or anything. Anyway it’s the first Sunday of the month so that means it’s time for the Bother’s Bar Monthly Game, $5 +.50 to play, a $5 rebuy available within the first hour and if you survive the first hour there’s a $5 add-on allowed as well. Join us, it’ll be fun and it all starts at 8pm (ten minutes late registration allowed). You’ll need to be part of the Bother’s Bar Poker Club on Pokerstars to play – this is free, but I’ll need to accept you before you can register for the tournament so don’t hang around. All the details are here.

If you can’t make this one put March 2nd in your diary for the next one.

Eject

By | February 1, 2014

So we’ve actually had a basic inkling of this show for a while, but someone’s tipped us off with some more exciting details. Basically the new Remarkable ITV1 show intended for the 4pm Tipping Point slot is called Ejector Seat, and sounds like a chess-clock quiz meets Graham Norton’s Big Red Chair – your seat moves along a track until you give a right answer, and if the track runs out you flip over backwards. Prize around £10k, live studio audience. Too slapstick for 4pm? We’ll see. Host is yet to be named, although the press release is coming soon.

So there we are.

New shows

By | January 30, 2014

Some new shows are filming in the next few months. Maybe we’ll go and see them! Or maybe we just won’t bother:

  • The Totally Senseless Gameshow is recording for BBC3 at Wimbledon Studios on 21st Feb. Seems to have a disabled slant. “if you have ever wondered what your favourite celebrity looked like dressed as a giant baby playing table tennis with their hands tied behind their back, then this is the show for you.” (Tickets SRO)
  • Amazing Greys: Paddy McGuinness challenges the youth of today to take on talented old people at their own game. Pilot review: “It was a pleasant enough experience but not really a must watch,” although you never know. Filming 25th Feb and variously in March at ITV Studios. (Tickets SRO)
  • Keep It In The Family: It’s that Bradley Walsh reboot of Your Kids Are In Charge that the nation has been crying out for. Filming ITV Studios on 17th Feb. (Tickets: Applause Store)
  • Big Star’s Little Star: Second series of Stephen Mulhern’s celebs and their kids quiz. Filming 16th-22nd Feb at Wembley. (Tickets Lost in TV)
