Let’s try and “do” a post

By | September 9, 2010

Sorry about the ongoing problems, it’s as much of a pain for me as it is for you I can assure you. Lets try and cheer everyone up with – what else? Some titles from Jeux Sans Frontieres from 1968

No, I have no idea why Team GB are represented as a yapping dog either.

In other news, the line up for Strictly Come Dancing has been announced, and it’s enough of an eye opener for several wags to point out that they appear to have made it a celebrity special:

* Michelle Williams (from Destiny’s Child)
* Anne Widdicombe (politician)
* Jimi Mistry (a mistry to me. Oh, film star apparently)
* Gavin Henson (rugby player, Charlotte Church’s ex-beau, reality show contestant)
* Felicity Kendall (FELICITY KENDALL! Amazing.)
* Matt Baker (Amazing.)
* Patsy Kensit (Amazing.)
* DJ Goldie (DJ)
* Paul Daniels (AMAZING.)
* Peter Shilton (ex-Footballer)
* Pamela Stephenson (ex-Not the Nine O Clock News, psychologist, wife of Billy Conolly. Amazing.)

Also I missed these out earlier, thanks DS:

* Kara Tointon (soap actress)
* Scott Maslen (soap actor)
* Tina O’ Brien (soap actress)

Gavin Henson is also on 71 Degrees North on ITV1 on Saturday night. That will likely confuse old people.

More iPod reviews when the current woes are sorted – I’ve got a lot of things lined up.

The iPod, Cubed

By | September 7, 2010

Hello everyone,

The CGI problems are still ongoing (although they are being looked into), but I’m pleased to announce our new iPod Therefore I Am section (up there a bit) and more importantly, our very first review of The Cube.

When the problems are sorted I intend to go round and tidy the presentation up a bit, add captions and that. The review will do in the meantime.

Show discussion: Only Connect Series 4

By | September 6, 2010

Right, well if you can “only connect” to the Bar later through all the CGI errors (sorry about that), let’s have a good old chat about the new series of Only Connect.

A big surprise is promised. What could it be?

In the meantime, if I can sort out the iPad’s exciting synching issues, look out for a review of the The Cube app sometime on Wednesday. I’ve got seven or eight things to review lined up.

INTERACTIVE Board of Excitement 5th September – 11th September 2010

By | September 4, 2010

Sorry for all the Fast CGI errors, hopefully it will resolve itself soon.

Right, I’ve got a jolly exciting idea coming this week, in the meantime here’s what immediately springs to mind Board of Excitement wise – if you think there should be something else on here, put it in the comments:

  • Only Connect (8:30pm, Monday BBC4): It’s the new one, and apparently there’s a surprise in store. What could it be? Lets hope it isn’t massively disappointing. Epicurans vs Courtiers – it’s good to see they’ve raised the highbrow bar in the teamnames right there. The BBC blurb suggests that one team is three university chums with a love of food, and the other a trio of Ulstermen but I couldn’t tell you just by looking which one was which.
  • Ultimate Big Brother (From 7:30pm, Friday, Channel 4): The final to end all finals, until it probably moves to Channel 5 next year.
  • Ipod Therefore I Am: Basically I’m buying an iPad this week and will start reviewing apps that the Bother’s Bar puntership may or may not find intriguing. I hope you will find this exciting and fun.

Good times, as Justin Lee Collins would suggest.

More US Millionaire

By | September 2, 2010

Here’s some fun, there’s a demo of the new US rules (and music) for the new Who Wants to be a Millionaire? up on the US site.

For those who haven’t been following, the difficulties and cash amounts for the first ten quetions are now shuffled before the game. Cash is cumulative, but make it past question ten and you play “Classic Millionaire” for the big money.

The questions are rather difficult in that they’re quite US-centric, but it gives quite a good flavour of the new game. The music is quite good, a sort of take on the style of the original, but with a bit more Magnum PI.

The show begins in the US September 13th.

Question from Twitter: Does anyone know what font is used for the letters on Countdown? Alex?
