Board of Excitement: 6th June – 12th June

By | June 6, 2010

The Summer, there:

  • The Bother Series of Poker Game 10 (8pm, Sunday, Full Tilt)  – discussion page here.
  • Big Brother 11 (Launch night 9pm Wednesday and daily for the next 14 weeks, Channel 4) – as I’ve said, quite interested this year although doubtless will have stopped watching by Friday. I wish it best of luck though.
  • The World Cup (Every channel, all the time from Friday and six weeks hence) – can’t say I’m spectacularly interested although I quite liked that Dizzee Rascal track premiered on Britain’s Got Talent last night. Or I liked it until James Corden appeared, at any rate.
  • Total Wipeout: The Legends (5:45pm, Saturday, BBC1) – yes it’s a new episode, famous losers get to have another go, and it’s against England vs USA on ITV1. Good luck with that.

Fingers crossed, Fort Boyard 2010 details may emerge this week.

Why haven’t they done an England vs America Wipeout for this occasion? I like football as much a I like Total Washout (read as “not at all”), but even I’d watch THAT episode… Only if it involved the Johns. But then it wouldn’t be Washout, it’d be proper Wipeout. Which I do like…

    Okay, ignore me.

Looks like I’m not the only one to misread that then. I guess the answer would be because the US couldn’t give a stuff about the World Cup, but would have been great to have a Wipeout World Cup of some sort as it would be rather astonishing if the show is still around in four years time.

It’s not right against it, it’s a 7:30pm kickoff, so it might be OK – and an international Wipeout per Daniel’s suggestion would be fabulous.

True enough, although ITV1’s coverage starts a lot earlier, as you could probably imagine.

In It to Win It is directly against the first half of the match. No doubt it will get the same figure it got last night, 2.9m (14.2%). They might as well left it and aired the 2012 series over the summer, as it used to,

Britain’s Got Talent got 12.3m (54.6%), very good for a 150 minute show but I think Simon will ring in the changes for next year. DS posters are suggesting Paul O’Grady should be a judge.

Something tells me I’m going to be entirely irritated by James Corden by the end of the week (if I’m not already), as he appears to have his own show EVERY NIGHT. Even Baddiel and Skinner didn’t get that, did they?

It was back in 2004. Like you I think it was done after every live ITV game.

It springs to mind that Fantasy World Cup was alternate nights – or maybe just three per week. It, sadly, ran out of ideas and material disappointingly quickly.

      Tremendous!

Also, quite interested in the idea that the Daily Star have been suggesting that there’s going to be a robot in the house named Bob Righter who will dole out tasks and stuff – presumably in the spirit of the Tree of Temptation. There seems to be an idea of throwing as much as possible against the wall and seeing what will stick, but as long as its intriguing I’m fairly happy with it.

Odd, didn’t US “Last Comic Standing” also have some sort of amusement part mechanical fortune teller giving out challenges?

    Some QVGDM caps.

http://ups.imagup.com/multi/1275984597_QVGDM.jpg – yes , our version FINALLY updated his graphics/music package.

http://ups.imagup.com/multi/1275984597_QVGDM2.jpg … making some additions from the US version to the international one.

    http://ups.imagup.com/multi/1275984597_QVGDM3.jpg PAF clock.

http://ups.imagup.com/multi/1275984597_QVGDM4.jpg Questions seems to be slighty harder than before …. and contestants REALLY dumber than before. (this was Q5 for 12,000€ – “Who won Roland-Garros women’s singles this SATURDAY ?” ; player had only 50/50 left and wanted to go for A before using 50/50 and eventually walking away)

Oh , and that green dot is a signal for home viewers to call a premium phone number and answer the current question to try to split the prize won by the current contestant – making the true top prize 500K€ rather than one million.

        I don’t really know why.

First day ratings : 2.9m , 19% . French cousin of Ratings Bear is ready to attack, i’d say.
