Toooo the Crystal Pod!

By | September 26, 2010

I’ve done a review of The Crystal Maze on iPod. It’s currently going for 59p, although it’s gone as low as free in the past, but for those sorts of prices you’re getting good value.

This is the first iPod review where you can click on the pictures and get full-screen versions come up, I’ve been toying with screen-resolutions recently and forgot that I have my screen at home on teeny-tiny res. but with my browser magnified a bit, on older computers and screens it may have been quite difficult to read some of the writing on quiz-based screenshots. So this seemed like a reasonable middle-ground.

Speaking of The Crystal Maze, it’s 2009’s answer to The Crystal Maze The Cube this evening. WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?

Cube now appears to have returning players… Wondered why that guy seemed to be playing slowly..

I think that is going to be quite a hard game as well if the de o is anything to by, and that’s with the audience benefit of an overhead shot.

On the plus side, one of her supporters is the spitting image of Craig David.

They’re dumb. Rollover contestants is great but in the preview for next week, they showed her doing two different games. They spoilt it for us viewers! Stupid ITV!

That’s why you should always shut your eyes during the preview for the following week’s show.

        That’s what I do!

I have to say it was a bit disappointing the [SPOILERS] guy walked at Digit. Considering he had over double the average lives taken still remaining and also his Simplify, I reckon he could have gone for the big one. [/SPOILERS]

I don’t know- that’s a game where you could lose lives easily by accident. The Simplify would have done one of 2 things- either made the ledge thicker, or made the distance to cover smaller-which sorta is a wash I think.

(And I’d guess The Cube trailer-makers were ill, and they had to send for the US Minute To Win it ones to do the clips for next week- that was just as bad as the ones over here)…

Digit looked piss-easy! What a waste!

I think from now on I’ll (a) avoid reading TV guides (as they said there’d be two players = first guy can’t possibly take up the whole episode) and (b) mute the TV and look at the ceiling as soon as “Next Time…” appears.

Just for that rotten spoiler, Cube, you lose one of my Golden Fiver votes.

Yeah, not good editing, there. I’ve tweeted someone about it – will let you know if I get a reply.

Oh dear. They notice the fandom’s comments about rollover contestants and then completely ruin it by showing a spoiler clip at the end.

Was going to watch next week’s after inadvertently missing this. Not so sure I will now.

Yep, my figure is quoting someone on DS quoting Broadcast.

I think we can all agree that it’s over five mill and up on last week.

I’m going to go ahead and say if it ever touches 6 million that’s a definite recommission. So happy for it. Finest game show on TV.

Oh I would think anything that gets 5m and climbs is a definite recommission as it is in this climate. I would be 90% confident of a third series.

ITV seems to be doing this more than a little. The press releases for “71 Degrees North” have consistently given away the constituents of the teams, which makes it trivial to work out who is leaving on which show. In turn, that rather makes it difficult to get too excited about a show when you know that Konnie (or whoever) is leaving at the end of it.

Well, here I am, a week behind everybody else. Joined Chuckles in watching the first of the new series of “The Cube”, and we had a high old time. We also watched (on Another Website) a big lump of the 29 August 2009 episode, which is the only one not available on YT. This is the one with the “trousers incident”, and we were whooping it up on viewing it.

As to “spoilers”, I am reminded of Columbia’s cliffhanging serials of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Unlike those of Republic or Universal, Columbia’s “chapter plays” would show clips from the next chapter immediately after the cliffhanger, as a come-on to get viewers to see the next thrilling chapter of whichever serial “. .. at this theater next week!”. Although they did some spoilers early on, it did not take them long to figure out that this technique worked best when they showed clips of some character not directly involved in the cliffhanger just presented. I’m sure that ITV folks have the intelligence to figure this out.

All that being said, “Perimeter” is a tough game for a thousand-quid opener!
