Chase Me

An in-joke.

An in-joke.

TV’s worst kept secret is finally revealed today, top quizzer Jenny Ryan is the new Chaser, The Vixen (and I believe she’s “on” this afternoon). We broke that there was a new Chaser coming FIRST, and Buzzerblog worked out who it was ages ago, so well done us.

In other news other Chaser Paul Sinha has a new book out.

8/10

dalew2_1It’s probably slightly too cropped, but this is a great promo-shot-featuring-the-host-holding-a-question-card effort from Dale on the set of In It To Win It.

They’re filming more episodes in August in Glasgow, tickets from Lost in TV.

In other lottery news, 5-Star Family Reunion starts on Saturday at 8:05pm on BBC1 with Nick Knowles.

Edit: You’re Back In The Room has also been recommissioned, Twitter seems a bit surprised by this – I don’t get it, it was doing 3.5-4m most weeks and it’s sold well internationally, complete no-brainer for ITV.

Miscellany

  • The Edge is looking for contestants! Mail theedge@bbc.co.uk OR give ’em a ring on 01414 226383. Details here, closing date is Friday so get on with it. I don’t know if they’ve made changes or not, although we can only hope so.
  • Dutch Pointless starts on 27th July with Lucille Werner (fab host of Lingo for about 15 years) with Pointless friend Owen Schumacher (comic and contestant on Wie is de Mol and De Slimste, the new series of which starts tonight and yet there’s still no UK one). It looks like all these great shows will be able to be seen for free on bvn.tv. Here’s a contestant promo, look:

  • Meanwhile your favourite version of the format Personne n’y avait pensé! is back after a four year hiatus on France 3 with the same host Cyril Féraud but a brand new font, because obviously that’s what was wrong with the original and not mangling the format.
  • The German version of Utopia, Newtopia, has been axed, bringing the running total of successful countries for Talpa’s hit format to a grand total of The Netherlands.

Is Sky 1 AND SKY 1 HD about to remake Bullseye or what?

By | July 19, 2015

Edit: a TV person has confirmed it’s not Bullseye, so why not read this now classic post with that in mind?

The evidence for: They’ve got that documentary coming up on Challenge on 27th July. The flyer I was forwarded on Twitter sounds pretty compelling.

The evidence against: Well it didn’t do brilliantly last time they tried, and surely if it was Bullseye you’d just come out and say it? And it will almost certainly be an hour long. The flyer sounds more like pro-am darts reading a bit more carefully.

Anyway here was the tweet, judge for yourselves:

GET IN THE HOLE

Right, sorry I’ve been “off” all week. However The Open is on right now (when it’s not being weathered off) so here’s ten minutes of The Full Swing from 1996. Don’t be fooled, that’s not the Don’t Scare the Hare set. How slowly does Tarbuck read the questions?

Show Discussion: Hive Minds

hivemindsTuesdays, 8:30pm,
BBC4

Fiona Bruce chairs this new BBC4 quiz where two teams of three answer clever questions by finding the answers in a hexagonal wordsearch.

As a replacement for Only Connect (which has of course moved to BBC2) it doesn’t look like the apple has fallen far from the tree – teams of three, large range of subject matter, a bit where the teams have to try and find a perfect solution to a grid – so we shall see how much the wordsearch element adds to the mix.
