Das Spiel Beginnt

By | March 8, 2015

If you were on Twitter last night you might have became vaguely aware of a German TV show that was going out involving giant versions of board games and wondering what it was.

So thanks to Nico W we might have a Special Feature on it upcoming soon. It’s called Das Spiel Beginnt, and intended as a large irregular Saturday night event show in the spirit of, and to replace, Wetten Das?

If you want to watch it (be aware it’s three hours long), then right now you can watch it ungeoblocked on the ZDF Mediathek – requires Flash.

And if the idea sounds familiar, here’s the feature we did on Family Game Night.

Gameshows + Shouting = Buzzr

By | March 4, 2015

So last year Fremantle in the US thought it might be an interesting idea to go through their large back catalogue of formats and redo some of them to appeal to a youth audience. The result of that is Buzzr on Youtube. After an apparent successful go at Family Feud and Password earlier this year, this week sees the launch of its first “season” with FF, Password and Body Language (which is basically charades).

What this means in essence is a) shouting, b) “Youtube personalities”, c) shouting, d) short formats for short attention spans, e) shouting and f) at 33 I’m too old for this shit. And g) shouting. And h) single entendres. Not forgetting i) shouting.

AND SPEAKING OF “YOUTUBE” “PERSONALITIES”, if you had March 21st booked for Schlag den Brig 3, we’re having to postpone it (although we still fully intend to do it at some point). Soz.

I Forgot A Zombie Apocalypse

By | March 2, 2015

Do you know? This morning I had a feeling that there is something I’d usually do on Sunday night which has just passed me by this week. And then I remembered I had completely forgotten I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse was on, I was too busy doing things that were actually quite exciting, like playing Assassin’s Creed and watching House of Cards.

Has any other show gone from excitement to forgotten exists within the space of two episodes?
