Fantasy X Factor Frankie Redux

By | November 10, 2011

OK, so now the four acts eliminated in week one of the competition will be put to a public vote to decide who gets to rejoin the competition. For Fantasy X Factor it will basically work like this:

  • You will notice that in the selction boxes for elimination and winner is the term “WILDCARD”. You can pick this to represent the winning act from the public vote, and it will become that act from next week. Please be aware that there is no guarantee as yet that having already won a public vote, the Wildcard won’t be immune from elimination this Sunday, therefore the risk is yours to take.
  • You can also opt to transfer the Wildcard into your team blind of who it ends up being. They will become that person when we know who they are, and will score points as normal from this weekend’s shows.
  • You will get no credit for having Frankie in your team, it is just an unlucky event, similar to a player getting injured in Fantasy Football.
  • Similarly you will get no credit if you had one of the wildcard acts in your original team line-up and you had to transfer them out. Logically if that was the case I’d have to dock you all the points your replacement act has scored in the interim.
  • If you had one of the wildcard acts as your choice of winner in week one then I’m a bit more sympathetic. Because I advise people to change their winning act when someone gets eliminated you are being made a one-time offer: You can revert back to your original 40 point guess, but you must do it blind of knowing which act does get back in. If your original choice fails to get back in then you must repick at next week’s points level. If you want to do this then please state your intention in the Transfers box.
  • If each Wildcard act sings on Saturday night’s show, they and the judges will score accordingly. No live performance = no points.

Don’t forget to get your choices in by 8:15pm on Saturday. If you have already made some orders, feel free to resubmit with new ones in light of this week’s events. Don’t be scared to ask a question if you need to, but these decisions will stand.

I will e-mail all managers this message this evening to make sure everyone is clear.

Future Fortunes

By | November 9, 2011

Our odyssey through the ouevre of Paul Ross continues today with another fake gameshow, Future Fortunes, made by Clerical Medical and very much the sort of thing Channel 4 would have had questions on in the early 80s.

People who can’t wait for the second Paul Ross jigsaw competition won’t have long to wait, it will probably be on Friday. It will require hardcore knowledge of formats Paul Ross has hosted.

A surprise to no-one

By | November 8, 2011

Thanks to Dan Peake for the heads up, but they appear to be casting for a new series of Blockbusters. 18 year olds and up. Won’t be successful because it doesn’t have Bob Holness in it. Predict they will keep the handjive for effect.

Meanwhile! It is Sorority Girls on E4 this evening at 9pm, and what will today’s piece of Paul Ross-erbilia be? Find out… LATER!

Edit: It’s fun idea for a quiz, from the Carlton area in 1999, it’s Mind the Gap!

Fantasy X Factor

By | November 8, 2011

OK, you’ve probably read the news that Frankie has been removed from The X Factor, and you’re probably wondering how this might affect FXF this week. Well, producers are releasing a statement tomorrow regarding what’s happening this weekend so I will make a firm decision then.

What is certain is that you won’t be able to vote for Frankie to be eliminated this week. If you have done it already, please choose again. Secondly there is no make-up if you have Frankie in your team, that’s the luck of the game and you are advised to change him out. Anyone who had Frankie down as a winner will be mailed in due course. You are welcome to wait until the producers have come to their decision before making yours.

Who Want To Win A Paul Ross Jigsaw?

By | November 7, 2011

So! I did a competition on Twitter today to give away one of the TWO Paul Ross 300-piece jigsaw puzzles I’ve got coming.

The question simply was: “Who or what is the best Ross and why?” Caveats included disqualifying anyone who said “Sigur Ros” and opening up the competition to people in the UK only (sorry US and international peeps, postage costs mainly).

Nobody went for the golden envelope answer which was, of course, Ross Frozen Foods. This means I’m going to judge completely arbitrarily. Find out who gave the best answers and who the winner is under the cut!

Festival of Paul Ross

By | November 7, 2011

Well here we go. I have no idea what the genesis of this video is (and anyone who says I’ve just looked up Paul Ross on Youtube and picked some videos that looked interesting for this week is lying).

It is something called Guilty or Not Guilty. It is a take off of Deal or No Deal. It contains adult themes and comedy. He puts in quite a good performance in this, actually.
