Board of Excitement 24th-30th July 2011

By | July 24, 2011

Alright first things first – it’s a new Happy Hour competition! Word Up! offers up to £50 for the winner, go and have a look.

Otherwise there’s not much to get excited about this week – Amazing Race Australia nears its climax, Fort Boyard 2010 is on TV5 on Monday although seeing as this is episode 8 of a 7 episode series I don’t know what it is they will be showing. Fort Boyard 2011 goes from strength to strength on Saturday – who would have thought painting some doors and knocking ten minutes off the running time would have been so successful?

So here’s a clip of one of my favourite new old things, Pied Marin:

Donny: the boy you always wanted

By | July 23, 2011

Donny Osmond has been revealed as the, heh, ideniny of the US Secret Fortune pilot. So here’s a clip of Donny fronting The Pyramid Game:

The UK version was slightly bafflingly Donny-centric. When I went and saw it being filmed, I was one of the few non menopausal-women in the audience. And even if you applied to be a contestant, the form was all about how excited you would be to meet Donny Osmond. Baffling.

Who could it *be*?

At midnight we’ll discover that Brian Dowling’s officially hosting Big Brother in the world’s least surprising surprise.

Hopefully we’ll learn who is hosting BBLB as well. Nick Bateman is getting a series of Big Brother’s Little Brother’s Cousin, but will he have Victor to spark with?

Edit: Brian’s hosting, Emma Willis is doing Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, which is basically Little Brother by the sounds of it. Pleased for the pair of them.

What’s happening?

By | July 21, 2011

In lieu of anything interesting, I’m just going to put out there that Bother’s Bar Happy Hour competition Word Up! starts Sunday. You could win £50! But don’t get overly excited.

It is doubtful there will be a Fantasy X Factor this year as I’m not sure I can be bothered to watch it, which gives us a good excuse to run Secondhand 3-2-1 over the winter months.

So what exciting things are otherwise happening?

Some more on Cadburys Spots vs Stripes Minute To Win It

By | July 19, 2011

Is that what it’s going to be billed as in the magazines? Really? Cadburys want to send me chocolate and fun CSVSMTWI things, and as I thought the show was good and I like the chocolate, I’m happy to shill for a bit. SUCK IT UP.

Anyway, here’s the official site and here is the official trailer – I don’t think many if any clips are from the actual version we’ll be seeing in the UK. The graphics are completely different:

You can download the decathalon pack here. But what you might be more interested in is the presentation of the blueprints. As you can see, a bit diferent to normal:

The show starts August 30th. Spots v Stripes is a Cadburys initiative to get the country playing in the run-up to the Olympic Games. I just noticed today that Wispa’s have lots of spots on them and Dairy Milks have stripes – I’m going to have to side with the spots on this one. Edit: Actually it sounds like the wrappersd are random. I thought I had CRACKED SOME SORT OF CODE.

Show Me The Funny

By | July 18, 2011

Completely forgot this was on, saw it from halfway though, decided that comedians just aren’t very funny. One or two things though, from looking at the bios online:

  • Cole Parker, correct me if I’m wrong, fronted a gambling round the world show for Challenge TV  Bravo about 10 years ago, the name of which escapes me (GO GO BOTHER’S BAR HIVEMIND)?
  • Patrick Monahan! Now where have we seen that name before? On the 9th of September 2009.

Can anyone spot any other interesting connections?
