It’s an all-new episode of “Chris Tarrant Tries to be Convincing Bigging Up His Latest Show!”

By | March 30, 2010

Absolutely extraordinary, apparently.

I will say this though, the set looks superb. But don’t look at the photos section as it gives away who makes it to Saturday’s show, rather.

Meanwhile, thanks to TV wunderkind Tom Scott for pointing me in this direction on Twitter. Do you remember Didn’t They Do Well? Well here’s like a real life version of it!

Something to think about

When Gordon Brown calls the election, the Bother’s Bar/UKGameshows.com Quadrennial Gameshow General Election will be taking place. You’ll be asked for your all-time top ten UK gameshows and hosts.

It can’t be far away, so you might want to start thinking about it.

I’ve turned the comments off for this post (use the one below for other things), this is for informational purposes, not a place for canvassing.

Run for Money

By | March 29, 2010

Basically, I’ve spent most of today exploring old episodes of Run For Money on Youtube (of which there are several). I’m really, really hoping this guy who uploaded the full recent episode as linked to yesterday is doing it in some sort of official capacity, because this morning it looks like he’s uploaded some really, really old episodes, which don’t seem to have any missions in them (in fact by the looks of a translated Wikipedia article, it’s the first non-pilot ep here) – just Shibuya, nine runners, four hunters and 50 minutes on the clock. So it’s been interesting watching what’s on offer and seeing the evolution the show has taken since 2004. The early episode is more “pure”, but I think the later episodes with the twists and turns are more entertaining.

So ignore Cha$e, my proposition would be do to this as a monthly thing at various locations in the UK (Alton Towers, Lakeside Shopping Centre, Milton Keynes), get 15 contestants, but also allow anyone who survived the previous Run to Run again and give the show its mythology, £50k top prize (not massive massive, but you might need to pay more than one person and they’ll get to Run again) and I think you’ve got the potential of a great event show, here.

More Stuff

Right, the heat is on, the time is right, it’s time for you, for you to read an old feature I’ve tided up and put up:

Meanwhile, I’ve Daniel to thank for the rest of my evening’s entertainment, a full 90 minute episode of the Japanese show Run For Money, which you may remember was reversioned in the US as Cha$e with Live and Kicking‘s Trey Farley. Here’s Part 1, the rest are down the sides.

And Daniel has written up explanations for the missions here.

Board of Excitement 28th March – 3rd April 2010

By | March 27, 2010
  • The clocks going forward (2am, Sunday) – don’t forget the clocks have gone forward. It’s now OFFICIALLY Summer.
  • The Amazing Race (Sunday, CBS) – this has been highly entertaining so far, and I’m in the unusal position in that I quite like all the teams left in it. Considering the nature of liquid, I was quite surporised and impressed when the boys’ champagne tower held up, where the top levels were just one glass on top of another on top of another.
  • Only Connect (8:30pm, Monday, BBC4) – David’s favourite episode apparently! The first semi-final, the Archers Admirers vs the Gamblers. My money’s on the Gamblers.
  • Survivor (Thursday, CBS) – the previous episode must be one of the all time greats, if not THE all time greatest episode. Boston Rob and Russell, two completely brilliant players of the game, trying to outsmart each other is absolutely terrific telly, and if persuading Tyson to change his vote which ultimately did him in was genuine and not producer contrived then I’m very, very, very impressed. And you’ve gotta love Colby.
  • The Door (9pm, ITV, Good Friday and Easter Saturday) – just saw the trailer on the website, this might actually be rather good if you like this sort of thing, which I do. Enter a room, do a nasty task, get out before everyone else does – very Estate of Panic, which is rather what I was hoping it would be like.

Saturday Special

You can actually watch the entire episode on Dailymotion if you want (and you didn’t watch when it was linked to some time ago), just search for Xapatan. If your French is better than mine (tres likely), do feel free to fill in the gaps and correct the mistakes.
