Nevar Say “Nevar Say Nevar Again” Again

By | June 27, 2017

Hey Gang, do you remember we pointed out a TV researcher job at the end of February and suggested it sounds an awful lot like Raven?

Well guess what? It’s medieval Mario Party Raven for CBBC.

As doubtless you’ve noticed: that’s a different person playing Raven – this is Aisha Toussant who plays Jules Belmont in BBC Scotland soap River City. It also sounds like James Mackenzie who originally played the role will also be appearing in some capacity.

We’re intrigued to see how it’s been reformatted, 15×30 minute episodes are promised and the press release suggests 16 contestants. That would suggest five cycles of three-day weeks, each one with four people, leaving four people for the final. But that’s speculation on my part.

Obviously I hope it takes a more modern take on proceedings, with fewer games so they can bring the personalities out (*).

(*) I’m being facetious.

Show Discussion: Name Your Price

By | June 26, 2017

Weekdays, 3pm,
ITV1

Or David Dickinson’s Name Your Pric£ to give it its proper #hostholdingaquestioncard title. The Duke describes antiques but he’s lying about some of them. Can our three pairs of contestants work out which are the Bobby Dazzlers and which are in fact cheap as chips?

There’s £5,000 up for grabs in an endgame that sounds pretty much exactly like the one from For What It’s Worth, except with a buy-out option.

SOUND THE IDIOTAPE ALARM

By | June 24, 2017

By pure chance I’ve just discovered that Bother’s Bar’s OFFICIAL favourite Korean electronic supergroup Idiotape (sonic visionaries of The Genius) have a new album out and it came out just last week and it’s called Dystopian? which sounds like a The Human League album title.

It’s £5.99 on iTunes (for some reason it looks like track 1 is missing on that listing but if you buy the album you still get it) and Google Play.

Edit: Looks like Apple have fixed it.

Happy Fort Boyard Day!

Series 28 starts tonight at 7:55pm UK on France 2. Edit: 8pm now by the looks of things thanks to the laissez-faire way French television operates, apparently. Don’t worry, the wacky goings on of Parents Mode d’Emploi are still on.

No VPN? OK Live TV will probably be alright, you may find better. Naughty streaming is on your own head. This link seems to work alright but you’ll want some ad-blocking – click at your own risk. Edit edit: That link was decent quality but one of its ads made my antivirus go off so please be careful if you use it in future.

Show Discussion: The Crystal Maze (Celebs)

By | June 22, 2017

Fridays, 9pm,

Episodes available to watch  from Wednesday night on Thanks 4.

It’s the show that has repeatedly come top of “shows they ought to bring back” lists, well 22 years since it was last properly on it’s now a reality as new Mazemaster Richard Ayoade leads a group of five adventurers around the Maze, testing their skills in a bid to win crystals, each one worth time in the Crystal Dome.

The remake begins with a run of celebrity specials.

Hoo boy, I think it’s likely you will have an opinion on this so do add yours in the comments below.
