Bother’s Bar Plays Badly: Pub Trivia Simulator

By | July 3, 2020

Some Friday fun for you as some quizzing experts, and myself, take on Codemasters mighty Pub Trivia Simulator from 1989 on the ZX Spectrum 128k. Will anyone beat the grid and make it to the Money Maze where they could take home tens of pennies, or with just one wrong answer will they end up just propping up the bar?

Also! This weekend I’m going to be recording Vol 2 of The Flying Brig-et Presents Gameshow Sound Effects, so if you have any requests leave them here.

Have you got what it takes to beat The Cube?

They’re looking for pairs, intrigued to see if this means we’ll get two player games or if they’ll stick to one player with the other one shouting encouragement. Or both! What could be more exciting then your partner losing £100,000 you had both earned, after all.

Put Up A Real Good Fight

I was alerted to new podcast It’s Only A Gameshow the other day, where four friends chat about gameshows, with various degrees of interesting factage, misremembering things and humour and it’s rather jolly, the first ep is on Big Break, the second on You Bet! Do give it a try (Twitter).

Here’s the episode of Big Break they’re chatting about – the very first one, featuring probably the only time somebody actually said “snookered” when intending to pass. Sidenote: well done Challenge TV on their graphics skills, here.

Bits of Business

Right, we’ve moved this year’s Mole discussions from the top menu to the Specials Board. And we’ve added a new Fort Boyard 2020 page.

I’m hoping to record another Bother’s Bar Plays Badly on Thursday night after Dan’s Quiz, ideally with four other people. The nature of which will remain a mystery. If you think you’ll be free and interested, from about 10pm to 11pm, let me know.

Edit: Just to add that ITV2 are starting to show Ellen’s Game of Games from Monday at 5pm, it’s good fun.

Have you ever wanted to play The Mole? Can you speak Flemish?

And will you find yourself in Blankenberg this Summer? Or Hasselt, Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Kortrijk?

Then why not rock up to De Mol aan Zee, the new virtual reality Mol experience running this Summer?

Really intrigued to find out how it all works.

In other news that Netflix Eurovision film with Will Ferrell is out today.

Edit: Also Kandy Floss’ I Want It All on Spotify, old-school Celeb Big Brother fans.
